There seems to be a definite trend around the world to protect people from themselves! One such example is my brother and several mates are trusted to fly 4-engined jet aircraft around the globe but, for some bizarre reason, can't be trusted to look left and right when walking across to that same aircraft. They must wear all sorts of bright da-glo coloured bibs etc, so that they are visible under any conditions!
I can understand this applying to kids in certain circumstances, but adults?
Another one would be the preparation instructions on some foodstuffs, which state "Product will be hot after heating" (or similar). DUH!!
The list goes on. True, there are some Darwin Award contenders out there, but that doesn't mean we're all idiots, does it? Or have the few now made the rest of us look like prats who must be protected from ourselves at all costs?

Some people look upon me as an institution, and there are a few who think I should be in one!

It's because there are a lot more morons out there than you think. And as far as the food thing. .. remmeber how some guy scalded himself with hot coffee and then turned around and sued McDonalds because the cup didn't say the coffee was hot, and them ended up with millions of dollars? Whether or not the moron was actually stupid enough not the realize that coffee is served hot is not the point. The point is that the way this society works people don't like owning up to their mistakes, they like scape goats, and they like to sue people, to turn some lucky misfortune into a windfall, by swindling buttloads of money out of someone else.
Oh, and I bet that mcdonalds guy is still recovering, using some of that money to pay some french whore to nurse his poor pecker back to health....

Yup, Mandaren, there must be! Some of them appear on the juries who decide these cases
As you refer to them as morons, which I dispute however! I still call them idiots! I read somewhere that, by medical definition, a moron is more intelligent than an imbecile, who in turn is more intelligent than an idiot Just thought I'd share that piece with everyone
Hopefully, a couple of judges will soon be throwing such cases out, after fining the lawyer and plaintiff for wasting their time

I find this so funny as well!
On the hair dryer it says "do not imerse in water". Ok, this uses 120 volts, and is typicly a high amperage device because it produces heat and has a fast motor, sure, I'll use it in the shower why not. "Why won't my hair dry!"
Or those medicine things: Do not eat.
It's a world where you sue me and I sue you.
