In Need Of Software

Post by rovingcowboy »

:banghead: am in need of some software to block spam. now i know before you all run out and get links for the ones you like that there are a lot of them. B) however there is none i can find that work with Pop3.email.msn.com they are all saying they will but none will. :o and heres why, if you get your hotmail through you outlookexpress program from on your desktop and do not go only to the pop server from oe, then :clown:'s at ms tell their servers your a half http and half pop3 client. and you need to have a password to connect to the pop server with msn so those are 2 roadblocks to the problem. all the spam killers that use the localhost in the pop server line will not work. the keep the msn pop3 server from seeing the client. which it needs to do. if the email password is turned off then it will see the client but then ask for the password, when you put it in. the localhost proxy wont let it get to the pop server. :bsod: it is a lot like one way mirrors both facing each other. and no reflection for either :dosgonebad: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I don't know as I've never used a spam blocker. I use" block sender" a lot and "create a message rule" in OE. Not sure there is a way anyhow since the spammers just change their email addy everyday so that gets around the "block sender" thing. :banghead:

Just block the word "sex" and "viagra" and that get's rid of 90% of it right there... For the other 10% block the phrase "bigger is better".

Yep, did that one too. I have something like 23 message rules. It actually deletes about half of the spam now. ;)

Spammers waste their time, since whether we get the mail or not, we usually delete it. :) At least, I never entered my credit card on a "Free enlargement..." email form.

:banghead: :banghead:  I have around 359 rules for spam and abouit 500 blocked urls. and addys.

and i am still deleting about 50 spam letters a day. :hugegun:

they just keep changing all the address's or miss spelling different words.

it is getting in to a :cyberwar: me or them its gotta go some time. i just blocked all of one server so my friends can not even get to me if they are on that isp.? the spammers are not even doing it anymore most of the messages are copyed by worms and being sent to other computers so you cant even complain to the isp of the spammer. but i would like to find the guy that made that server side worm that sits there and relays spam to any and every email addy.
would go something like this.

:under attack:

When Reliexec had a mail server (and that the forum was capable of sending mail :P) I had this guy from china who hijacked it, he sent over 500 porn emails to one host. At least, there was 500 in the queue when I checked. I can't have a mail server because of that, not until I get Linux - and a new computer for it. :banghead:

I must have picked up something today. Got a returned mail message for mail I didn't send. The address was for a spam message I had put in the block sender list. It must have tried to send itself out and since I have no address book, it was returned. Had that hapen before and it was a virus. Can't find anything on my system though. Pit test says I have 25% cpu usage. I ran the test 5 days ago with the same programs running and got 0%. I don't know what is going on!

no there is a worm out there that will grab the last outgoing message and take the header and make the returned message and send it back to you.

just another way of getting you to click on a worm?
