The data center will be upgrading some switches (maybe this might fix the lag issue for some people... but doubt it's related to that) and the server may go down for periods of 10 minutes. Since its connection related your char will remain in game during this time, including any pets that are with you.
Just a heads up, but if all goes well should not be more then 10 minutes.
