Server outage for RAM upgrade - Dec 20 2010 [complete]

Server is down right now for ram upgrade. Going from 2GB to 4GB, 2GB will now be dedicated for UO.

Sorry for short notice, was not sure when the data center would call me and they were faster then I thought, so never managed to put an outage window.

I will post more details once the ram is installed.

The ram has been installed. Web related services are back up, just need to get the VM back up now. It wants me to reconfigure vmware for some reason, doing that now...

I have the VM running, but the networking part is giving me trouble. This may take a while. For some reason the settings never sticked and they all reverted.

The outage window is now complete and the shard is now back up.

The physical server how has 4GB of ram instead of 2GB.

2GB has been reserved for the host, which runs DNS for all my sites including this one, mail, uogateway and other web services.

The other 2GB has been reserved for the shard, which is a Windows VM.

So essentially, the shard has double it's ram now. I was going to give it 3 but the extra 2 on the host may be good for when we update the storage engine.

I almost had a heart attack because of vmware doing stupid crap with me, and ended up routing traffic differently, but now all is good. Time to order a pizza.

I also managed to convince the data center to give me a deal since I've been a client for some time. Instead of paying 50 bucks extra per month I pay 25 bucks extra. I was hoping they'd go for my idea of just signing a contract and only paying a one time fee, but that did not fly.
