So why can't 400 people join?

This server has great (but not overdone) customs. Committed staff and is obviously designed with pvp and pve in mind. I played here once and i just wanted to rant. Sorry. Anyway, Demise is a shitty OSI clone with lazy carebear staff and terrible pvp. Why does it have all the players? How many players do we even have here? Its a great server but not enough people last time i checked.

The only reason Demise has that much players is because they are an official runuo shard and is default in razor as well as their other shards.

They actually finally decided to start coding now so they're coming up with ML and catching up with us. Lot of their code is buggy though and I heard they got lot of crash issues and even had to revert certain things. Lot of it is also very half done and still put to production. So I think it will catch up with them badly.

For here it does not help that registrations are closed, but hopefully when the proper security/tracking systems are in place and we reopen, we don't have to spend 90% of the time cleaning up troublesome people. That is why registrations are closed now as we had too many issues with hackers and advertisers.

Demise is the center of runuo's testing which is why it's so popular. They are also one of the closest things to an OSI clone. In fact, demise surpasses OSI in many ways, one being their improvements to line of sight. Their reputation, age and progress has earned them a large player base.

Could they be better? Sure. All servers could be better including OSI. AOV strives to be better and we have a lot of ideas in place that we think will put us above the rest with an added "wow" factor, while still retaining the roots which have made Ultima Online great.

Many of these ideas are already documented and some are even in the works as we speak (SQL engine). Of course, we don't have a larger team so progress is slower but Rome wasn't build in a day and neither will AOV.

Well I would not say demise is the closest thing to OSI as I've seen shards that are closer (Ex: Legends, Shattered Legacy), but if they keep up with their progress so far, they may be on their way. They have the man power to get there FAST, and they finally started using this power.

By closest I mean that they have approved code instead of just tossing script packages onto their shard. The devs may be accepting player submitted code right now but they are verifying that it meets runuo specifications such as them having core statements for server compatibility.
