I just learned the hard way: not all cpu fans are 12 volts. Aparantly those 4 pin mini conectors are 5, or some other, lower voltage.
I gave it 12, did not like it. Tsssssssssss *smoke coming out of the fan motor*
That was the end of that. I hate how they are all concentrating on making PCs quiet now. Having a fan turn at 60 rpm may be quiet, but its not going to cool the cpu. I glue gunned a 80mm fan on top of the old fan after removing the blades. Should do the trick. It's actually spinning fast enough so I can't read what it says on the motor, unlike the other one.

haha nice.
I had the opposite issue, they were too damn slow. Even with the mods I did, only the fans I added myself are spinning in the thousands of RPMs. The ones that came with the case are slow, but at least fast enough to move air around.
I'll probably end up ordering some high speed 120's before I put this into production.

I have a liquid cooled system (actually just the processor box, the HDs are all racked seperately) in a static-free server room that has its own AC-unit as well. Having a fan (Fast or slow) on it would be superfluous.

haha nice. I don't have the luxery of a server room yet. Can't wait to move out. I'll setup something nice in the basement.
