lag/disconnects. anyone else getting this?

Post by DOCTOR THUNDER »

I can only play for a few minutes at a time. Then I get 2400 ping, freeze up, and disconnect.

Nope, my connection's smooth at the moment. Maybe it's your connection acting up. Try completely closing your client and opening up a new one, it's possible you're experiencing some client side lag (If you're been mining or lumberjacking this tends to happen). If that doesn't solve it, check to see if your connection's slow.

Can you do a tracert to the server?

tracert login.uovalor.com

You will get a bunch of time outs right at the end (server blocks ICMP) but the routes should give an idea where the problem lies.

Guys I'll need traceroutes, its the only way I can remotely get close to being able to troubleshoot this, if it is a server/network side issue.

Looks like the issue may be at Comcast but I'll need tracerts from everyone else to fully determine this.

Pardon my language, but Comcast is comprised of a bunch of little bitches.

I called Comcast once because my connection was unbelievably slow. This is how it went:

(D= me, M=Monica)

*Ring Ring*

M- Hello this is Comcast customer service. My name is Monica and I can help you with any questions you have.

D- Hi Monica. I was calling because My internet has been very slow lately, and I have had a very unstable connection the past few days. A few people I know have also been experiencing this. I was calling to see if Comcast is currently working in the area to fix the problem.

M- Okay, hold on, I'm looking up if we are working in your area, please be patient, our computer network has been slow lately. (SHE ACTUALLY SAID THAT)

M- Okay, it looks like we don't have anyone in your area right now, and we can't detect any problems. Have you tried restarting your router?

D- Yea, I've reset my router a few times, nothing has changed.

M- Try resarting your computer.

D- Did that too, nothing.

M- Well then I'm sorry, I don't know what the problem could be. I suggest you call the company who made your computer, perhaps they can help.

D- Mam', I made my computer. It is also just not one computer, it is all my computers in my house.

M- Well, call the makers of one of those computers, maybe they can help you.

D- I made all of those too.......

M- .......

D- ......Thanks for all the help Monica. *Click*

I swear, they need to get some real customer service people who know what the fuck they are talking about. My comcast connection for the most part is realiable and I ping well. However, I get periods of MAJOR lag and connection instability, making it impossible to do anything online.

Actually, it's amusing. The ones who DO know what they're talking about wouldn't be caught dead doing her job when there's a better one with better pay around the corner.

Wow that's lousy tech support lol. Call the manufacturer of any of the computers? LMAO.

"hello I am calling because my internet is slow"
dell support: "Uhh thats not a computer issue, call your ISP"

I do internet tech support myself and I even go as far as pointing on possible issues with their PC if it actually is with their PC (which we don't support). But first thing to check is our end, we bring up the modem and shasta/juniper port viewer to see all the speed info, margin, attenuation etc.. If some of those values seem low we get the phone people to test the line, then from there put in a ticket to right group to have it checked.

Also its incredible how easy it is to convert people to firefox when working in tech support.
