Just to let everyone know that I didn't forget about this system, it just took a long time to get to the point where I could start working on it again.

The masterpiece system is my priority while red works on the event system. The remainder of the masterpiece resources will be added in. The amount of points a weapon can have will also be increased to make it possible to make rather decent weapons. Of course, in addition to this rule, the points certain resources take as well as the way they work/caps will also change to reflect the new point system. I will keep you updated as the system progresses.

Are there any plans to have masterpiece armor or shields? Or is it just weapons?

It has always been a plan that the masterpiece system would only apply to weapons. There are over 7 different layers of armor and only 1 layer for weapons so it's easier to control. We felt that applying the system to armor would leave open too many variables that we could not control, the weapons themselves are hard enough to think of all the possibilities where overpowered/abuse might come into play unintentionally. Unless there were a larger team of developers and testers who were around to test and monitor these things, the system will not be ported over to armor and shields.

could you chance the hue the masterpiece weapons drop with, they are annoying to try to find from corpses, and sometimes you even miss them

That's always a possibility. Would need to find a unique color that's easy to spot though. Possibly pure pure white. When it's been grabbed, it would lose its hue (It would be an indicator basically).

Instanced corpses would make that problem go away. In fact, instanced corpses would make the game 1000% better. It should be higher on the priority list. I hear people from pretty much all shards crying for it regularly.

Ya, I agree with that. Instanced corpses would solve quite a few problems and at the same time, would be another perk to add to the list. Unfortunately it's another one of those large systems that requires a fair chunk of research so in the meantime we'd have to provide an alternative. Not something we can just pick up right away as other large system are already in the works or have been planned out.

And it will require recoding the loot and corpse system from scratch so it ties into a lot of things.

Loot system is a pure mess. Also by recoding that, it means editing every single mobile in the game (yes, every single one) to use the new loot system.

848 to be exact. (thats the amount of creature scripts that show up at load time)

Mind you thats including ALL mobiles, so like even vendors and such. Theres probably a good 200+ misc mobiles that we would not need to edit, vendors, questers etc.

This is progressing slowly because I'm rather tired of coding this system (It's tedious) but I'll try to find some motivation to get some work done on it. So far, all the common, uncommon and rare resources are coded (Including the missing ones like velocity's mark). There are also a few ultra rares coded in.

The point system will be increased but I'll have to do that in numerous different files so that part's not quite done (Including the peerless loot packs which will be getting remodeled to make editing easier).

yea, also certain things need to have point cost decreased, like hci/dci is 3 points per 1%, seems rediculous =p.

Ya some are either going to be raised or lowered depending on the new point system.
