Specific monster loot increases

Post by d. »

Now now, I know we have had many discussions on monster loot. Many players want it bumped up, but staff dosen't want to make things too easy. I totally agree with staff that it is fairly easy to start playing on here, but from a players perspective, there are some monsters that need their loot pumped up because it's not worth it at all to fight them with what they currently drop.

bone demon- these have loot that is fairly week, when considering they can hit extremely hard. Not only that, but you first have to farm 1000 demon bone just to get a single one to spawn. It is one of the easier quests, but none the less, it takes a while to just get one of these things to spawn. You could probably do an entire round of gauntlet faster than doing the quest.

Yamandon- these fierce ugly worms are extremely strong and have that nasty psn/lightning area attack. An archer or a bard is about the only template that can take them, and even then they can take a while. I've camped these on a few different occasions only to be disapointed by all the loot each time.

Also, I think paragons need to have their loot majorly bumped. When considering the difficulty of a monster such as a sucubus, balron, or ancient wyrm, you would expect to get some great loot. I forthe most part can't even tell the difference from paragon to normal loot. High level paragon creatures are often times harder than even gauntlet. As for their rare paragon chests, those things have loot equivilant to a mongbat. As of right now it seems like the only consistently decent loot comes out of gauntlet. I think some other places need to be pumped up a little =].

Please leave your oppinion, maybe I'm the only one that feels like this, and maybe nothing should be done.

Bone daemon and bosses in general can have their loot bump considering the difficulty associated with them. Keep in mind that a loot "bump" means that the monster in question will drop more stuff but does not necessarily mean that the intensity+number of properties of the items will be increased or decreased (This is a common misconception about loot bumps).

Intensity and properties can be impacted by luck (I know, I honor things all the time to raise my perfection luck and there's a rather significant increase in the loot's quality).

As for yamandons, they could also use a slight boost to their lootpacks considering they love to KO. We can also check the paragon loot packs to see if they are adequate (Which they probably are not in comparison to the shard).

Specific monster loot increases

Yeah, even with a Disco Archer Yamadons are a B**** and a Half with that poisin they smack ya with, takes me more time and aggravation than pretty much any other non boss mob. And the two or three I killed really didnt impress me much with the loot at all, don't think I took any items off any of them.

And I do agree with the paragon stuff. I mean Supremes are waaaaaay better than paragons lootwise because you can collect the mastpiece stuffs and pop a mastpeice wep.

And on the luck side, tongiht I was hunting some ancrient liches because i know they USED to back in the day drop some good loot. Well at first I was using my archer in a 300 luck suit. Nothing worth shite on em. Then i switched to my tamer with 1490 luck still not much of anythign that great, maybe one item with 80% intensity mods. So bosted the suit to over 1500 cuz Shadow said that last 10 woudl make a big difference. It really didnt that i could see.

Then while I had my 1500+ suit on I popped a supreme. That loot was pretty decent but most of what i looted was a masterpeice double bladed staff thingie and the reasources.

I dunno but Luck really doesnt seem to have much effect on loot IMO and from my own expeirience. I mostly still do the luck suit because it does make a noticable difference on arty %s.

I dunno, hunting normal mobs or anything outside Gaunt for loot just doesnt seem worth it to me but that could be because my standards are really high (fitting stuff into arty suits in the slots no arty fits and such).

But somewhat on a side note, I'd love to see Luck do more in more spects of the game. Like maybe a slight boost to Roulette chances [IE Game of Chance lucky people win more] or maybe on the crafting side it ups your chances of making a masterpeice, or gives a you a small advantage on getting that 300 Valorite quest, and such. Dunno Luck just seems to mostly only affect arty chances to me and that seems a shame.

Luck does have an impact but not as players may think. Luck increases your odds of getting better loot, does not mean that 1500 luck is going to always give you a wickod haul. Luck affects loot intensity, properties, chances of getting artifacts and masterpiece resource chances. So some things, the % may be only 2% increase, but keep in mind that on a per kill basis, it all adds up. I honor things all the time to reach perfection (about 1000 luck) and there's a noticeable difference in artifact chances and loot when I do that.

I like the idea of having luck affect other things that aren't necessarily affect by combat. We might be able to incorporate that into the recipe system for quests, where wearing luck gives better odds of getting a higher listing for recipes or like you said, a boost to your masterpiece crafting chances.
