Favorite season of the year

What is your favorite season? When I was growing up, my favorite season was Fall. I love the multi-colored leaves. I love watching them fall in soft blankets from the trees and I love the sound they make as you walk through them. I love the cool relief from the heat of summer.

But now that I'm a mailman, fall tends to remind me that winter is coming, with slippery roads and icy winds. So I like Spring much better these days. I love watching the grass begin to turn green and the buds forming on the trees.

Mostly though, I just hate winter. Except for those mornings just after a snowfall, when the trees are covered in frost and the sun is glittering from every flake of untrampled snow.

My favorite is autumn, and my second favorite is spring. I would love winter if we got proper snow, but we just get rain. Summer is way too hot down here.

I like Summer, but after 2 full months of it, I've had enough. If it's not too damn hot, it's pissing rain.

Spring and Fall are just transitional seasons, and tend to be wet and messy because of slush/sand/salt that's not frozen in place.

So Winter gets my vote. It's very dry, and with the furnace set properly, can be comfortable. I can also do work outside without sweating uncomfortably.

We just got 8 inches of snow last night, but it was the light fluffy stuff, so it didn't make my day delivering mail too difficult.

That's the best kind of snow. I hate the wet stuff, it just makes a huge mess. I especially hate walking in mall parking lots when it's mild. The slush/water mixed with sand is quite messy.

We don't really have to deal with sand much where I'm at. We get to deal with salt and other chemicals. They only leave white residue on your shoes and then drain into the water supply.
