It’s cold!

Post by Chris Vogel »

Summer is finally over, and soon the leaves will fall. This is my favorite time of year.

We had to dig out our space heaters this morning! (I’m deliberately not sharing the temperature because Red will make fun of me.)

Fall was my favorite time of the year when I was younger, but now it mostly just reminds me that winter is coming.

Our morning temp yesterday was in the mid-30's F.

yeah.. it's 80 outside right now in Tx... which, to be fair IS a fair temp drop from 108 last month.

I'm looking forward to it getting cold here... all my best clothes are winter wear.

We got snow yesterday. Not the real stuff though. Was wet snow and it just melted as it hit the ground.

Note to self: 2 layers of R20 is NOT enough insulation in the attic. I need to get back up there and put some more. :o

I'm tolerant to cold to some extent though. I've only been using the furnace a bit in the evening and in the morning despite it feeling like -30 out there. It's above 0 but I find when it's cold at this time of year it feels much colder probably because of the humidity vs when it's january it's a very dry cold.

I checked to web for info about the Minneaplos area and I found this:
Average date of the first inch snowfall - November 18th
Average date of the first two inch snowfall - November 29th
Average date of the first four inch snowfall - December 20th
Average date of the first inch of snow cover - November 22nd
Average date of the last inch of snow cover - April 2nd

Since records started being kept in 1891, the earliest we have ever had a 1-inch snowfall is September 26th.

Well, if you insist.
Your pants are so ugly a dog wouldn't even play with them.
Your shirt is so ugly it broke the pattern.

That's not a bad idea, insulated clothes. Like, actual house insulation packed in there. The R40 stuff should work nicely. Might be a bit itchy if there's a rip in the coat though. :o
