I had text messaging disabled on my phone, because of AT&T’s 15¢ fee (for messages sent and received), but a friend recently forced me to buy a text-messaging plan. T9 makes typing easy enough, although Unicode seems to be verboten.
Admittedly, I text her a lot – with pictures! Now I just need more friends.

I never got the point of text messaging. Just dial the number and call. Or use regular, free, chat like msn etc.
Guess it does have its uses though, like you could setup a server monitor program to send alerts via text messaging on your phone.

Or XMPP! Sometimes, though, I’m not near a computer, and I just want to say something quick.Red Squirrel wrote: I never got the point of text messaging. Just dial the number and call. Or use regular, free, chat like msn etc.
Do you know about SMS gateways? Your server just has to send an e-mail.Red Squirrel wrote: Guess it does have its uses though, like you could setup a server monitor program to send alerts via text messaging on your phone.
T9 annoyed me at first, but then I sat down and forced myself to learn it. It’s a real time saver. I discovered the coolest thing ever last night. What’s the capital of New Zealand, you ask? Why, let me ask Google – from my phone at no cost!
