finally adding my thoughts here - of course I heard the event as they were 'fresh' via the media as the Cour da'lane (never can spell that) area is less than two hours from here
The man deserves death.
fast and far too merciful: firing squad or noose
alternate: dipped in boling oil

Hang him! Make sure the rope is slightly too short so he does not die too fast. (shorter drop period)

by default I'm against the death penalty for too many reasons to mention, but this guy sparks emotions which allow for it. I too would see him suffer

Rage, Murder, Death, Kill, Revenge, Pain, Agony inflict this guy.
In all seriousness, what this guy did was horrible, but what I find interesting is all the responses call for torturing the torturer.
As for my personal opinion on the matter, a case like this doesn't seem likely to be rehabilitated, at least not without some serious effort and resources (and even then there is no guarantee), so either stick him in jail for the rest of his life or kill him and get it over with. There's no reason for unnecessary pain. It's not he's going to learn a lesson from it. Particularly if he ends up dying in the end.

unforunately "kill him and get it over with" means he will likely spend the next 20+ years on death row and die in prison before any actual execution takes place.manadren wrote: Rage, Murder, Death, Kill, Revenge, Pain, Agony inflict this guy.

Those events in childhood must have been quite tramactic events to help create he man he is today, especially for a 16 year old to commit sexual assualt against a 14 year old.
Back in the 1950's (I listen to a good amount of the Dragnet radio series) a convicted cop killer spent no more than three months in jail before execution took place. In cases like this where there is so little room for doubting guilt and the crime is particurlaly heinous it truly is frustrating to see them sit in prison for years and years on end.

This is true, I never said the system was perfect. But I was more making a comment about knee-jerk emotional reactions and how many people's sense of justice serves no practical purpose.
Cop killers, rapists, child molesters, serial killers, these kinds people, these types of crime always stir up strong emotions in not only the public, but law enforcement, and the courts as well. And such strong emotions can often lead you astray. How can you be sure that the suspect is really the culprit and not a convenient scapegoat? You see life through so many different filters that you don't even know what half of them are. There is no doubt that your perceptions are skewed one way or another, but can you tell which way? You say it only took 3 months to execute a cop killer in the 50s, but you'll never know how many were falsely accused. Of course there are a lot of other factors in that too, a different culture and a simpler, less crowded prison system for starters.
Getting a little long winded here. I just have a problem with knee-jerk reactions like that. They seem to say to me "I'm not thinking, and you're not supposed to think about something like this."

Sure, these sorts of cases stir up strong emotional responses, and that's what people are expressing here. No one here is deciding the guy's fate. I say kill the guy quick. No use wasting decent folks' tax dollars on some elaborate scheme to inflict pain on him. There is no doubt in his guilt.

yes do these tend to bring out strong knee jerk reactions. My feelings behind my first post in this thread definitely were not in that category but my suggestions for 'punishment' were sounding more along those lines.manadren wrote: This is true, I never said the system was perfect. To put it succinctly: in cases like this where is no doubt of guilt for an especially heinous crime, put him death quickly without fanfare. No need to torture him or anything else along those lines - just swing him from the gallows.
