Messy notes, hopefully in chronological order, from the 2008 episode of Canada’s Next Great Prime Minister:

How does the audience laugh at Rick Mercer while he’s backstage?

I love the music. I’ve been playing the intro over and over.

I feel sorry for Rahim, even though he’s my least favorite too.

It must take a lot of self-control to say “post-secondary education” instead of “university” – even when you’re talking about your own life and can therefore be more specific.

I like how Pam puts the emphasis on males in “affluent, white males.”

Alika on affirmative action: “Equal treatment of unequal people is inequality.”

“Magic voting machines”?

Tony from Vancouver has a nice accent.

Is Alika seriously willing to tear the country apart to satisfy a 900-vote majority in Quebec?

Kevin may be cute, but his final plea is pretty bad: “Pam [a fellow contestant] taught me that education is the key to our future.”

In case you missed it, Compas Research (the national survey research firm) does the polls.

I loved Alika even after the Quebec thing, but why didn’t Pam win? She dissed US health care and the war in Iraq!

Edit: Typos.
