That sounds and looks impressive, even it is a completely foreign language to me for those parts
And brakes are sooo over-rated. Just wear a good helmet and pads to cushion the landings.

Lol, yup I did. Its total infestment is about 1200-1300$ now. The frame was 230$ and the cranks (Odyssey wombolts or the things that hold the pedals) were 180$.Red Squirrel wrote: Bet you paid lot of money for that.

Having no brakes help you control your bike betters. It also helps with manuals, I might put one on later if I feel like it.

Lol, I actually did. And it was quite fun learning more control weaving through traffic since there are a lot of hills where I live. I almost got hit twice, thankfully the cars weren't brakeless.

You should just get the brakes where you pedal backwards, that way you don't have the hand brakes and cables, which I assume is what normally gets in the way for doing tricks. Or does the pedaling backwards thing become an issue as well?

Well, you can pedal backwards to cause friction on the rear hub so it kind of slows it down. But the BMX company that would add that braking feature in hubs and rear drivers would go out of business fast. It would also get in the way of tricks, if I want to fakie out of 180's then I have to pedal backwards a few times so I can turn the bike around. There are hubs that are called freecoasters, those allow you to roll backwards without pedaling but those hubs are alone, 200-300$. (Btw, hubs are the piece of metal that your spokes are connected to. Its what makes your entire wheel move)Red Squirrel wrote: You should just get the brakes where you pedal backwards, that way you don't have the hand brakes and cables, which I assume is what normally gets in the way for doing tricks. It can get really confusing, there is a lot more to a BMX bike than someone would think. There are different geometries to suit different people. Top tub length, head tube angle, rear end length (slammed or non-slammed), bottom brackets, crank arm length, the list just goes on and on. And most of that is just for the frame.

Lol, pretty much. When I was first learning about BMX I got really confused. I was riding a 20.5 top tube and then someone said thats to small for someone my height. (6'2" or 3) then they said a 20.75 would be much better. And I thought, what would a quater of a inch difference be? Oh boy did I think wrong. It feels like I have so much more space for my legs but at the same time I don't have a reach difference so I can still have control over the bike.
