Things I learned today....

Post by Cisco_Kid »

My first entry in this thread is drek about Star Wars.
After Watching The History Channel show about the technology in the films I learned that Darth Vader has artificial arms and legs & that Anakin kills Christopher Lee's character in front of the old emperor guy. You would think that Dracula would die a classier death, or at least have a light saber (perhaps a wooden light saber?) through his heart :D

Episode 3 almost looked barely interesting after watching some brief clips on that show. Still no plans to watch it after the intolerable suffering I endured sitting through Episodes 1 & 2 in the theatre though. :doublepuke:
One pod race and one or two battle scenes did not make up for the time or money (even with military discount) lost.

and now for something completely gratuitous to end this first post.... :jedi:

edit: Does anyone finally cut Jar Jar Binks in half/other fractions with a light saber? That would give me incentive to watch it.

the light sabre duel at the end of episode 3, will make it worth watching. But I'm in agreement, was very disappointed with the first two

The best part is darth vader: "NOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo!!!"

Really star wars is great, I just find the story line could have been much better. First off, get rid of the whole love crap. It's sci-fi, its for geeks, we don't care about love stuff!

Apparantly they will have a star wars TV show though, really something like star wars is actually better fit for an ongoing show, then just 6 movies then its the end, type deal.

Of the three "newer" SW movies, I'd have to say the second one was the best, and that's not saying a lot. I made the mistake of thinking that Ep 3 might actually have been tolerable, but aside from a couple cool scenes, I left the theater wanting those two hours of my life back.

Of the prequels, I'd say the 3rd was the best. Mind you that's not really saying a lot. They all were kinda crappy, especially compared to the original trilogy. Maybe on a second viewing I might like the second one better, but it felt very rushed to me, and the flow was really off.

I think the thing that utterly killed Ep 3 for me was how quickly Anakin turned into a heartless sonofabitch. It just didn't feel believable in the context of the previous movies - yes, he was going "bad", and yes, he killed a bunch of sandpeople... but his transformation felt quite rushed and I felt zero sympathy for his character by the end of the film. I will admit, the duel scene with Yoda was kind of cool - I had heard about it before I saw the movie and thought it would be another cheesy CGI-laced load of turd that only a SW fanboy would happily gobble up, but it was done well.

Yeah, you're right, the Anakin transformation was darn near instantaneous, but I think by that point I just didn't care and wasn't expecting too much on that angle.

agreed, the transformation was dis believable and totally flawed. Perhaps the book could have presented his difficulties better. Many of the same sequences could have remained in the movie, however If it was more of a personal vendetta stretched over time would have been more believable.

the original trilogy quotes obi won that it was Vader who 'hunted down and destroyed' all of the jedi, yet in ep3, it was more of shooting fish in a barrel. He didn't match off against any jedi, or have the jedi destroy him, he killed a bunch of 'younglings' WTF?!?
