Good with electrics?! Then HELP!

Ok, so this mornin before school, I was in my bedroom and I plugged in a plug into the wall socket and it made a weird buzz noise (the socket was not turned on at the wall yet) and so I was like and then I noticed that the TV downstairs had gone silent..
So I ran downstairs and the TV was off, so I was like oh sh!tt!
I ran back and fiddle abit with the plug as it made its weird buzzing noise and the TV came back on downstairs..
So I was like, woah sh!t, thats weird.
And da da da, all was ok but worrying and weird and I left for school.

I then get back and the TV downstairs won't work now, it won't turn on, and it isn't the TV, its the downstairs socket for the TV...so nothing will get power when plugged into it..
But all other plugs are working fine and definitely my bedroom one..
So what has happened and what the hell can I do??!?!?

I had this happen to my room when I was doing electrical in my mom's room, was just a light socket so I just turned off the switch and not the breaker (breaker box is unsafe and hard to access at our house) and when I unhooked two wires in the socket my room lost power. It was feeding my room from that socket. Depending on how electrical is done this happens. That plug in your room probably feeds downstairs, and the wire inside is loose. I'd unscrew it and check, and do shut off the breaker if you're not used to working with electricity. If you really don't know what you're doing get someone else to, as it sounds like an unsafe situation, a loose wire can "jump" to the box and create a short circuit with the ground, because they tend to be stiff.
