Rude people and battle.net

Post by SilkMirrors »

Okay, hopefully I'll receive some intellectual responses (fixing my typos doesn't count), but if not, nothing I can do about it. So here's the dilema:

If anyone is familure with Battle.net the multiplayer bubble of jell-o for blizzard games, and more specifically warcraft 3 battlenet, then they are probably HIGHLY familure with rude people. For clarification purposes I shall state what rude people refers to in this post:

Note the following criteria is not set in stone and thus there are always people who are the exception.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

People who use "Noob" in a derogitory manner

People who cuss too often, and when they do, it just doesn't sound good.

People who ban you or threaten you for not being "good enough"
-Example: Island Defense - players work as a team to kill the titan, if a player dies, the titan opponent becomes stronger, gaining an extra unit. People often take this as an oppurtunity to remind everyone of how upset this has made them, or how poorly that player who just lost, had played.

People who call a game "gay" or actually ANYTHING "gay" when it the game or object of reference isn't working out in their favor

People who in a previous game did the above, but now that things are going their way, if they happen to still dislike the game, they suddenly become polite and respectful and inform everyone how "The game isn't that great."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The list could go on forever, but many things happen on battlenet, and actually I find quite common everywhere online, that people wouldn't do face-to-face. So since I cannot complain about how corrupt the internet is since I'm using it right now, and I do enjoy the conveniences it brings...

How to deal with people like I described above? Not just "deal" with them, but what is the "right"" way to deal with them? I am aware that is an opinionated word but it will atleast get across what I'm trying to reach.

One can kick or ban these players from their games, but they'll soon find they have no more players to play with. Throwing insults back and forth is HIGHLY frivolous, and as a side-note, requires a moderate amount of skill to which I do not have. Ignoring them feels inactive (gee, I wonder why :P ) and unhelpful.

I'm hoping to receive responses to end ALL debate once and for all nation-wide, sort of a FINAL ANSWER end all argument. A method, a book, etc. that will describe why being stupid is waste of time, and convincing argument to present to anyone who acts stupid that will convince them to stop, and to start being not-stupid. A motivating factor for those preparing to answer is this: If you come up with the answer, teachers across the world will applaud you as they present your argument before countless children who are rude, disobedient, and wont pay attention to rules, and after reading (or hearing, for children who can't read) they will discover the WONDER of not being stupid!

This is no joke, I'm dead serious, and I'm also extremely grateful for positive responses. Thankyou

Awww, how cute. Rather than refer to you as 'SilkMirrors', I'll just go ahead and refer to you by your wonderfully adolescent self-description.

if people are stupid, theres no way to tell them not to be stupid that would actually work. they're too stupid. the only thing you can do is ignore them, or stop playing those games lol.

Once upon a time, long, long ago, I used to play a lot of Diablo 2 on Battle.net, so I know what you are talking about. But really you have to expect such behavior at a place like that. And the only way to avoid such rude people is to only play private games with people you know.

Well, you can always come here and let off some steam about the stupid people before going back to the game again. I personally don't have time to play those games, but I have time to read about the stupid stuff that happens to people who play those games.
