Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1

Post by fragged one »

take a look...

this is a full screen look. doesn't look much different, except for the obvious movement of the toolbars and the added tabs. very large image

new tabs open by default to about:blank. i'm actually quite surprised by this. dialup safe

the tools menu has changed a bit. phishing filter? nice addition. the new tools menu

speaking of that phishin filter, this popped up the first time i opened ie7. here phishy phishy phishy...

i've only been running it for a couple of hours now, but i'm pretty impressed, doubly so given that this is beta 1. it seems to run faster, and has yet to crash on me (but then again, ie 6 rarely crashed on me). another thing that i thought was nice: the google toolbar automatically transferred over from ie 6. did not have to reinstall it at all. also, they've made it easier to change your default search page. just one click and it's changed...you can see it in the upper left-hand corner of the full screen shot.

i'll keep ya posted.

Thank you for the screenshots, Fragged! :) I haven’t tried it.

I really hate how the menu has been moved under the tabs and how the button that opens new tabs is just a blank block. (Well… I don’t know if it really opens tabs, but it’s still a blank block.) To a lesser degree, I hate how the refresh, forward, etc. buttons have disappeared. I’m sure they can be put back in, but I still think they deserve to be in the default configuration. It’s a beta release, so hopefully these things will change.

I do like the tabs though. Also, I like the small search bar and the phishing detection. I love the CSS, PNG, and HTML improvements.

Is anyone thinking of switching to IE 7? I don’t see myself switching, especially with all the exciting things that will be in Firefox 1.5. (Yes, they’ve skipped a few numbers.) Then again, I’ve only judged IE 7 Beta 1 from screenshots.

Hmm I'll have to try it out in VMware when I get the chance.
