The hardest part is probably knowing what's compatible and what's not. Ex: when I first started I figured you could put an intel cpu on an AMD motherboard and vise versa. These are all things to research, and most good suppliers will tell you if the parts you order are not compatible, if you ask.
red is right. it really isnt that hard. and if you read the manuals on some tof the stuff (heaven forbid ) they tell you everything u need to know. it is easy as......ummmm.............as..............................................making a small model car without sodering. except it is a lot bigger and more fragile. just dont touch the green places, especially with power on. (ow). and i wouldnt suggest the finger in the fan either. or, smelling the freon. or touching the freon. actually, a lot of things are dangerous. but it is safe as long as ur not stupid. ex: " i wonder what happens if i fool around with the motherboard.... while there is power! yeah. that'll be fun." dont do that. it is a bad idea. i promise.

Freon? I'm confused i built a computer and i don't think there's any freon in it. Do you have a liquid cooling system in your computer or is there a refridgerator close by?

My Windows 98 is nothing but Intel chipsets and everythin'. and half the crap, they don't even make anymore. So I couldn't find really any good driver info, since they were all fagged up.. although, I eventually found it on their website

It's really easy to get into building computers. I've built a total of 3 now, 2 were mine (gave the old one to a friend), and one was for my father.
There's some really fun stuff you can do with it too. My latest computer has a clear perspex window, so you can see everything inside. I've put two UV bulbs in wired up to a switch, that i put on the front of the case by drilling a hole. All the wires are wrapped with UV reactive material, and the fans are also UV reactive, so when you flick the UV bulbs on, everything glows. Looks really great at night.
The next thing i'm gonna experiment with is definitely water cooling. As you get more confident, you can do more interesting things.

Yeah water cooling is cool. (no pun intended) If I had the cash I'd try it out. I've thought of freon cooling but the problem is you need special papers to handle that stuff, and compressors arn't cheap to get.

Yeah but it's system ram that matters, so really you have 4GB. But I heard when you max out the mobo to 4GB it needs some of it for something, I forget exactly though, something about the chipset using up like half gig or something... I'd have to reread that in my manual as I'm probably way off, and confusing people.
And I hope you play intensive games to have those two video cards. SLI cards are frigen expensive! If you say "unix server" I'll kill you for putting such high end video cards. Very crystal clear text. lol
