i am doing a persuassive essay on how the beatles were the most influential band. does anybody have anything they would like to say about them that could help me out with my paper? or if anybody would like to write my paper for me i would appreciate that very much.

She had to pick the artist. I told her she should have picked someone like Amy Grant or Pat Boone, but she said she had never listened to those people. Just because you've never heard of someone doesn't mean they weren't influential.

Tell you the truth, I don't really consider the Beatles too influential, really. They're just playing the popular music of the time (their brand of Rock and Roll wasn't unique to the period)

i was going to do the paper on good charlotte but they havent been around for that long and i dont really know how they are influential. i just did the beatles cuz i know some of their songs and they are still being talked about. i need somebodys help, pleeeeaaaasssseeee!!!!

I agree and disagree with this statement. I agree with the underlying idea that the beatles are over-rated and they were more or less simply the popular music of the time, however there is something to be said for connection to the masses. The 'mainstream', as we call it, is really just about making the most money possible, capitalistic greed, which in a free market is connecting to the most people to make the most money possible. Mainstream TV is all about numbers, as is mainstream music. As a musician, if you wanted to make the most money, you market to the largest audience, hence popular music, or pop music. The Beatles did this exceptionally well, they wrote hooks that the most people possible could connect to and songs that were identifiable to the largest part of society. Their brand of Rock and Roll wasn't unique, but the specific fine tunings they did to thier sound was unique, as much as any musical act you can name (i.e. the beatles are to other bands in era as ... Nirvana is to other bands of the era: similar, but fine-tuned with characteristics that are connectable to a larger audience). I would argue that it's still important to be able to connect to a larger audience like this, but is a delicate balance between art and mainstream acceptance. They certainly could be said to be the first real 'mainstream' act, and that could be overstated in their image as greats.

Well you could say that most younger people (as in, people after that generation) actually know about that band and probably could reconize a song or two. There's not very many other older bands like that which are still reconized today, even by people in the latest generation.

I'm not a big music fan, but I still know a few songs from the beatles, but mention any other band from that time and I have no clue.

Not really a strong point though, but something that could be added in as filler, since fillers are good to have when writing essays.

That's sort of what I was saying. They were one of the first of their kind to hit critical mass, but it was nothing revolutionary. Perhaps they're influential in that many artists today list them as the ones that inspired them.

Yes, I think we are on the same page, however, I would give a little more wieght to the fact they did hit 'critical mass' first, that is a huge accomplishment, whether purposeful or accidental.

One might also argue, sociologically speaking, that since you can only be influenced by the events you are exposed to, that simply reaching more people would make you more influential in the eyes of society. It was more a revolution of business than of music, distribution was finally streamlined and globalized.

Never was a beatles fan until I was in my mid 20's. Since then, I very much like them. On a radio station her on sundays they have Breakfast With The Beatles for 4 hours. They play everything. I always found myself listening. I like'em.

I told wasting time that the Beatles were influential because they were the inspiration for a cool TV show, the Monkees. But I don't know if she'll use that in her paper.

The Sex Pistols seems to be considered by many the most influential band, but I never listened to much Punk music, so I can't tell you.
