Survey on Sweat shops for school... please reply

Post by Anonymous »

Hi,

My name is Clarence Tang and I am a grade 8 student in Mount Slesse Middle School. For this term, I am doing public speaking and for my topic, i chose sweat shops (a shop or factory in which workers are employed for long hours at low wages and under unhealthy conditions). I am also conducting a survey along with it and i would like to know

1. What are your views on sweat shops?
2. Do you think sweat shops are good for the economy?
3. Are you aware of any sweat shops in you country or in particular, your area?

It would really help me out if you could reply

Thanks,
Clarence Tang

1. I think they're bad, and should be regulated/illegal by the goverment
2. Unfortunatly they probably are very good for the economy because they are cheaper to operate then a typical ISO 9200 certified company
3. None that I know of. Most our stuff is made in china.

1. Don't like 'em.
2. They are a good way to get to market a lot of cheap goods
3. Probably not many in the US, though a lot of companies here support sweat shops overseas

1. In some areas, a sweat job might be the best job that a person can find, but that doesn't mean I like them.
2. The sweat shop would be good for the business which owns it, but it is not good for the overall economy. The better an employee is paid, the more he can afford to purchase goods, and the overall economy of the area increases.
3. None in Minnesota that I know of.

1) Sweatshops are bad.

2) They may save the company that uses them some money, but it's bad for the economy overall, as Bookworm said, the better an employee is paid, the more he has to spend, and thus the more he puts back into the economy. But also when one company uses sweatshops, others may have to as well to be competitive, compounding the problem. This along with the fact that sweatshops are generally overseas, taking jobs, and therefore money, out of one nations economy into another.

3) There are a lot of bad jobs around here, but I don't think any count as sweatshop conditions.
