Yes, Opera is worth a look. 
In case you didn’t know, it’s a secure, feature-rich Internet suite (browser, mail, chat, etc. but can be less) that is in high compliance with key W3C standards. It has advertisements in the free version, and you can buy it for US$39. (You can find out about discounts and donations here.)

still on 7.5, might upgrade soon. My time in the opera forums has been minimal lately but sounded like there are good improvements in the new release.
