What do you think the chances are...

That China - with it's rapidly expanding society, it's hunger for resources, it's bad blood with Japan, etc - will be involved in a major imperial push that lead to war, possibly a world war, within the next 50 years?

I would consider an internal civil war of some sort to be a more likely scenario. Parts of the country are likely to become more capitalistic, with the central government not caring for that. But then, what do I know?

I don't think the central government of China would allow that, look at how they deal with HK, and that just became theirs.

I think in general the middle east will end up being the main part of WW3 with the states, maybe even Canada etc.... a possibly nuclear war which will happen after the rapture. It's just a guess though.

Points to keep in mine:
China has one of, if not the fastest growing economy.
China's population is over 4X that of the U.S.
China is headed in the right direction to be a major technilogical and industrial player
China will the the top superpower in 15 years, unless drastic situations arise for both the U.S. and China

For centuries China stood as a leading civilization, outpacing the rest of the world in the arts and sciences. But in the 19th and early 20th centuries, China was beset by civil unrest, major famines, military defeats, and foreign occupation. After World War II, the Communists under MAO Zedong established a dictatorship that, while ensuring China's sovereignty, imposed strict controls over everyday life and cost the lives of tens of millions of people. After 1978, his successor DENG Xiaoping gradually introduced market-oriented reforms and decentralized economic decision making. Output quadrupled by 2000. Political controls remain tight while economic controls continue to be relaxed.

Now I'm not saying that China is 'evil' or is going to randomly attack someone or anything, but the way the country is set up - with the right leader - you could see a Germany-like scenerio unfold before the world. I don't think it's probable, but definately possible.

i think the chances of a revolution of some sort (bloody or political) occuring is many times greater than the chances of starting a war outside it's boundries.
