I don't believe anyone that's a high enough rank in the NMR is online at the moment. Mimic and Clueless are King and Queen.

Having problems understanding humor again? Ok, I'll help you out one more time.... It's a joke, as in funny, obviously most people have used windows, and most still do, I even use Windows XP Pro. Everyone uses windows, but there is a large backlash against windows, carried out to the point of ridiculous. Hence the joke, it is outragious to claim that any group has not touched Microsoft Windows, esp. since we know members of his own group do. The absurdity of someone claiming something as vague as "NMR members have been seen using windows!" is called irony, or satire. I'm sorry it had to be said. It's the same outragous humor that has been seen from Monty Python to SNL.manadren wrote: Yeah, I was a little foggy on the windows thing. "NMR members have been seen using windows!" Yes, yes, yes. I understand humor and satire and all that, but the joke doesn't really go far enough to be absurdly funny, not the mention the anti-windows pro-linux bit is a little played out, and that the use of this anti-windows bit, and it's placement within Resistance policy makes it seem more like an afterthought than anything else. Do you really think I'm stupid enough to believe that WW has never used windows? I was simply critiquing his comment in the same context as it was brought up.
And please do not group monty python with SNL. Don't insult python like that...

It's not absurdly funny, it's funny because it's absurd, there is a difference, they mean different things. You seemed to be having problems understanding where he was coming from, so I thought I'd help you out Your quote implied that you didn't understand the joke, argued with logic rather than in the realm of the joke, not that you didn't understand the basis for its humor. It's as funny as most of the played out crap that is regurgetated here, seems your being a bit unfair, so I thought I'd help explain it. As far as Monty Python and SNL being grouped together, they are both comedy, so if you can't deal with them both being grouped together, then that's a personal problem. They both often work with outragous claims, that is a similar type of humor, hence the grouping. In this case to show a spectrum that uses the same basic type of humor.manadren wrote: Yes, yes, yes. Know what, I really don't want to start I fight, so I'll say what I mean. Manadren, the joke was obvious, maybe not the best or most inventive, but just as there and good as most of the stuff that comes through here. I know your not exactly happy with WW, but that was obvious, you were just trying to make problems. Please don't, find a different subject to attack, give equal credit where credit is due, if anyone but WW had posted it, you wouldn't have attacked his joke like that. It's pointless. So, that's why I'm defending it. It's not something worth arguing over, so lets drop it. I just hate to see that nose in the air attitude, esp with like "And please do not group monty python with SNL. Don't insult python like that..."

Firstly, "absurdly funny", can mean both "funny to an absurd extreme", or "funny in an absurd manner" though I suppose I can't assume that one could use the context of the conversation to decide which. Secondly, don't tell me what I meant, I think I know better than you. Let me rephrase. I spoke of the joke as if it was true to comment on the lack of humor of the joke. And as for the monty pythonSNL bit, I just felt like saying that SNL sucks in a round about way.MrSelf wrote:It's not absurdly funny, it's funny because it's absurd, there is a difference, they mean different things.
