3 accounts per person, max

As theres is no system in place to enforce this, it is not yet a rule, but this is just a warning that eventually there will be a limit of 3 accounts max per person. I need to come up with a system to identify a single person, the best thing I can think of is email address, though this has its own flaws as well such as making multiple email accounts. Note that this will be per person, not per house hold, not per IP, but per person.
Just thought I would warn everyone in advance so you dont go making a 4th account, as chars cannot be moved.

People with more then 3 will have to consolidate to 3, but they have a few months before this is effective.

Then 4 of such accounts will go bye bye. We are only GOING TO enforce this rule because theres certain people abusing the lack of account limits. Hence why we are giving time for the people to move their stuff and all that.

The thing I have in mind, this may change is this:
There would be a web interface on uosrv.uovalor.com to register a UO account, this could be the same as your forum account, but would be seperate. With this web account you register an email address and must activate it. Once in, you can then register up to 3 UO accounts. For existing users, you will need to pick 3 of your existing accounts and enter the same password. The web server would then add this information to the database while the UO shard contacts this database occasionally to apply the changes, such as newly registered accounts.
Password changes would also be handled by the web interface.
uosrv.uovalor.com 1337 would be changed into a gateway server which authenticates logons with the database - it would only let you through if the account is registered through the web system. If allowed, you'd then pick your shard and be redirected, so I'd just change the port to like 1338. Auto account creation would also be disabled.
As for current users, I *may* be lenient and allow multiple accounts, at least for those who do not abuse it. I could even make it so there is a limit of how many accounts can be logged in at once (3) so those with more then 3 still cant have more then 3 online at once.
All this takes lot of programming though, C++ for the gateway server, php for the web interface and some C# to handle syncing the database.
So ml is still priority over this and it may be another few months until I consider ML complete. At that point there will still be lot of ML tweaks/additions to do as well.

The extended account limit has always been so that players who choose to play from the same IP (Such as a household or cybercafe) could be accomodated for the total number of people, not so that one person can have several accounts sitting around and afk'ing it up.

This certain person iam talking about isnt abusing them by means of botting or macroing, he just likes house building and also is hoping for playerbase to get bigger to sell those spots for profit.

We cant apply a rule to just a select few people.

9- There is no account limit, but be reasonable. The rule of thumb is 3 max maybe a 4th for mule chars, but since some of you may already have more then 3 or live in the same house as others who also play, I'm willing to be flexible with this. It will only be a problem if I see someone abusing this, like making a crap load of accounts for bod running or bots.
Sounds to me like I can have four.

Just out of curiosity... isn't this one of the purposes of the 3 account rule being suggested? This way you don't get someone with a bunch of accounts just to hold up real esate spots to sell later? That's kind of an exploit itself.
Not sure how viable it is as a solution, but if we run out of storage space, would increasing house storage capacity be a solution?

Yeah the max number of accounts is one way to limit houses too. At most, I will go 5 accounts max, but it will probably be 3. My goal is 3 accounts maxed, 2 logged in max. So it makes it harder to bot off, you can have maybe 1 afk char doing something and playing the other, but thats max.

Well, actualy those spots have decorated houses on them, unlike 30% of houses inside luna walls which have dirt.

the dirt ones are really the ones that anoy me, since its people who placed them, but don't even play. I don't interfeer with players so I wont go and delete them, though I have had evil thoughts of making a [forceidoc command which would start the idoc cycle early on a house, but if the person logs in, it would refresh, and the cycle would be at least a few days. But that is not yet planned and if it was, it would be posted.
