Clicking in Audio

How do I stop the insesant 'clicking' sound in my audio-short of a new motherboard??

It's timed to the activity light on my DSL modem.

If I complete a download & then listen-no noise. Otherwise, if I am downloading something streaming the noise level is just below the volume of the music.

Even if I'm downloading data-I have to turn the speakers off.

It's not a cable proximity problem as; if I hook up my stereo directly to the jack on the back of the pc the same problem occurs.

It's VERY irritating.

It's like a static rat-a-tat-tat.

Any ideas?? :banghead:

Sounds like a bad sound card. Could be driver issue or something too though.

Sounds like interference to me, seeing as you say it is tuned into the beat of something else. Did you recently install something new that may be close by or might cause interference? My second guess would be a driver issue.

I FIXED IT--I'M SUPRISED.

You were right Furball, as I disconnected an audio cable that was connected to the motherboard but not the CD ROM. The loose end might have been grounding out, I'm not sure.

Either way the problem is gone.

Now I just have to figure out why I can't run my grafics at anymore then 60 hertz and I'll be all set. B)
