Exciting day!

Today is one of the days where I usually finish super late at college.
Well today was different. This morning I was waiting for the town bus and it started getting very windy, stop signs were shaking like you see on the news during hurricanes, and it just happened to be recycle day where everyone puts their recycle boxes out, and it was also garbage day, so it made for some interesting stuff flying around, and I had my back facing the wind since I was holding my external HDD, and it was raining/snowing/hailing at random intervals. So something could have knocked me and I would not know what hit me.
Anyway I wrote my math test, probably failed it, went to the next class, ate lunch, nothing abnormal really. (well part of the roof did hit a top window pretty hard during lunch). Then our next class was programing, so we log in, I check to see if the power went out at my house which is at the other end of town, since I heard that all of the town went down expect for the college end. so I'm all "oh power did not go out at my house", maybe less then a minute after I said that, the power went out.
Half an hour later they shut down the college and we could go home early. Yay! I like days like this, so exciting.
I'm actually suprised they did in fact shut down the college though. I think it's an insurance policy since when the emergency lights go off people could get hurt, since otherwise I doubt they'd shut it down.
Strangly the power did go out at my house and logs indicate it went out within 15 minutes after the time I checked, but it's back up now.
In ever bothered installing the UPS software for my workstation, but I just did now.
I still need to come up with a way for the workstation downstairs to shut down though, since the UPS is connected to the server only, I can probably get away with a split DB9 connector or something, but the wires arn't color coded.
