Ok so i have been hearing alot about the next version of windows called vista. Vista, what kind of name is that i mean it reminds me of some deorderant that some chick would use or a new brand of razor. I wonder what the word means. Anyways i am more curious on how the next version of windows will be. I hope they don't load it down with all the stupid stuff they did with xp. Or maybe they will sell a pro and a media version Pro including some extra tools but excluding the stupid stuff that the media version would carry. I wonder if there is anyone that enjoys all the eye candy on xp cause i think it is just another thing to drain your physical memory.
P.S. i really hope they don't have all the security bullSH!t that xp has as a result of SP2. I mean don't get me wrong SP2 was greatly needed but they over did the security stuff.

Yeah I think it will be like XP but worse, which sucks. I'm not too fond of XP myself which is why I use windows 2000 pro. Only hope is that they make Windows Vista Server which will be a slimed down version of Vista made for servers, so with some tweaks it could be used as a desktop.

Personally I love the eye candy in XP
I remember the first time the desktop cameup after I installed it from WIndows 98.
I said "woweeeeeeeeeeee"
LOL
If you don't like how nice these newer operating systems look like-
you could always go back to D O S>
LOL

Definitions of vista on the Web:
view: the visual percept of a region; "the most desirable feature of the park are the beautiful views"
So you know it's gonna have alot of bells & whistles.
And it will be pretty---SO THERE!

Actually the look is not bad, but the fact that the GUI's architecture is very inneficient is bad. Linux has a big GUI compared to windows 2000 and lower but it's not half that slow... well I should not say that, RH8.0 is pretty slow in GUI mode on my server, when I ran it with a GUI. My servers run without GUIs so it's hard to tell if it really impacts performance or not in linux.

I mean the biggest thing i hope they don't do is bug the hell out of you with security warnings and i also hope all the eye candy doesn't boug down your system when playing games on your pc.
P.S. does anyone know the release date on this, probaly not for awhile yet because wasn't microsoft planning on making a couple more SPs

Inquirer has stirred a sensation on the Internet announcing that the next beta of Windows Vista, known as Beta 2, could appear at best in November.
This Beta 2 was announced by Microsoft as a part of the Windows Vista’s launching strategy, the OS being scheduled for the end of 2006.
Windows Vista Beta 1 appeared at the end of July, but it didn’t contain all the features promised by Microsoft. Beta 2 should be completely different, this version being expected to offer more insights on what Microsoft has in mind for the new OS.
Although there have been a lot of new information on Windows Vista, Microsoft hasn’t confirmed an official release date for this Beta 2.
As a response to Inquirer's speculations, Bink.nu, a site specialized in Windows, said that Windows Vista Beta 2 is due for launch in December.
