Yes you need msagent program on your computer if your using windows os of win 98se to win Xp the msagent program is included as a system file.

however they in winXp forgot to put the sapi 4 file in the system so you might have to download that from http://www.microsoft.com/msagent/ download page in order to hear them oh and you will also need to get a Tss engine all are at the same microsoft site. and are free get the tss engine for your language or one you want to hear the german does not work well. it does not say half the words.

the american english is the best one to get.

but the alarmclock you mentiond on my download page is an msagent character.

you download the zip file and unzip the agent acs file in to the folder for them.

mostly it is c:windowsmsagentchar that is the folder that they go in.

once you put that acs in that folder all you need to do is right scripts for the alarmclock. i made it have animations to show the times every 5 minutes in the 24 hour day as in military time. the documents for it on my site show you how you should make the script for it to work.

i use the alarmclock in conjuction with the task scheduler that way it will be able to run with windows scrpting host vbs scripts or if you can program in some other language you can use it but i am unable to program so i use the MASH program to make mine.

still you can make your scripts to pop up any 5 minutes and show the time and tell you a message if you want.

it is not a full blown completely coded program for you just to pick options it involves the use of scripting and coding and then setting up tasks in the task scheduler. that is the best all around way of doing it as you then know what is running because you made the script.
B)

I just looked at the documents for my alarmclock, in them i was very criptic as i was a dumb... and thought only people that new about msagents would want to download it and use it. should i make it more detailed for new to msagents people?

if you want i can send you a file you can see what is involved in making the script for it.

as for the money icons all you should have to do is unzip the zip file and put the icons on your desktop. they are not for any program they are just icons of money, ( paper and coin.)

they were made at 128 x 128 pixels and i tried them in win98 and winMe i know they work in winxp as i made them in winxp. :)

are you trying to tell me they did not show up for you?

no the script is for controling the msagent only.

the task scheduler is what you use to make it pop up every 5 minutes if you want to have it do so.

and you use the script to make the msagent show the time it pops up. i just made the alarmclock have images of every 5 minutes so that you could have it show the time what ever 5 minute mark you had the task scheduler run the vbs script at.

so there are animations in the alarmclock.acs file for it to show every 5 minute mark of the day in a military time lay out. so midnight would be shown like 00:00 and one am looks like 01:00 and one pm looks like 13:00 and the five minute marks have the number 5 in place of the last 0 and the ten minute marks have their corrisponding number in place of the zero they would be shown at. so ten after midnight would look like 00:10

but the msagent alarmclock i made is just an pack of animations for all the times.
and it is able to show any of them and speak any reminder as long as you are able to tell it what and when to do so by the script which you can edit.

but in that script i sent you you need to only change the name of the animation between the quote marks and the words between the quote marks you want said as the reminder.
and if you want the clock some other place on the screen then change the numbers in the move to command the left number is side to side, and the right number is the up and down of the screen. since the alarmclock agent is 200 pixels wide that number will put it up in the right hand corner covering the windows close buttons on a screen that is 800 x 600 it will be one pixel down from the top of the screen.

so they are these lines in that script.

Alarmclock.MoveTo 600, 01
Alarmclock.Show
Alarmclock.Play "hour 12:00"
Alarmclock.Play "hour 12:00"
Alarmclock.Play "hour 12:00"
Alarmclock.Speak "Vol=65535\empLunch Time!!!"
Alarmclock.Hide

to make it show only a black clock face and tell you to turn on the lights you change it to read

Alarmclock.MoveTo 600, 01
Alarmclock.Show
Alarmclock.Play "show"
Alarmclock.Play "show"
Alarmclock.Play "show"
Alarmclock.Speak "Vol=65535\empits dark in here dummy turn on the lights!!!"
Alarmclock.Hide

and if you want to say a reminder for a meeting 5 minutes before the meeting you change it to read like this.. and make a task in the task scheduler to play the script at 12:55 pm

Alarmclock.MoveTo 600, 01
Alarmclock.Show
Alarmclock.Play "hour 12:55"
Alarmclock.Play "hour 12:55"
Alarmclock.Play "hour 12:55"
Alarmclock.Speak "Vol=65535\empFive minutes to the 1 pm bawling out meeting.!!!"
Alarmclock.Hide

the alarm clock has a sound effect that only plays one time for each animation
so the 3 play lines in the script make it play the sound effect 3 times since it is the same animation the clock face will not even flicker unless you have a slow cpu.

the sound effect is that old sound of BUZZZZZZ that everyone slams their real alarm clock snooze button for.

you can make as many tasks for each time you want it to run but each different time will need its own differently named script for the msagent unless you want to keep going in to the same script and editing those above lines to read for each message you want.

so that is how you use the msagent alarmclock i made and is on my download page.

the icons are just simple also only if you want to change the overlay icons you need to use the mstweakui program for those. they are to get rid of the shortcut arrow that ms uses as their default over lay.
