I just installed this and so far my PC has not blown up. The kool thing here is that if you have an 'officially unrecognized' version of XP-these will still install.

Also the download has a .cmd file with it so that you can auto-install all of these at once.

You do have to edit the .cmd file but there is explanation on the site or I can explain it.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Preview Download

We've got a 100+ hotfix pack of many of the Windows XP SP3 fixes up for download. These are fixes that you would have to call Microsoft and get through their support center. These probably won't be up for download for more than a few days, so grab them while their hot!

In order to access the download, you'll need to join the forums (it's free).

Download: Windows XP SP3

Wow, that means SP5 should be out soon for win2k, I'll have to keep a look out.

Actually, I doubt there will be SP5.

I saw on the Microsoft site that they are extending Windows 2000 for 5 more years. And not making it one of their "obsolete" Operating Systems. My laptop has XP on it, and I upgraded to SP2 and it was horrible! This Microsoft sheild thing was always bothering me, it was abosolutely annoying! "I can't find one thing I like better about XP"--My Mom. And I said your not the only one.

Yeah that whole security center thing is so freaken annoying. You can disable it though, I think. XP is just win2k with eye candy and bloat.

:grade11math: Why was it horrible?

I don't know if it's my imagination or not but my PC seems snappier since I installed this. :biglaugh:

Windows XP actually has a newer core than 2000, it's just bogged down cause of all the extra services and eye candy Microsoft includes. If you disable that stuff, XP can be just as fast, maybe faster, than 2000 :D

IDK I think you will have to pry 2k out of my hands. I love it. After I saw SP2 and the whole microsoft sheild thing always bothering you, I was like why should I turn off all that crap when I can just use 2k right out the box! Can't beat that with a baseball bat. And you can put it on as many systems as you want "legally".

Haha yeah. I tend to play with VMware allot so that's good. win2k3 is nice too though. It seemed to have some issues with some of the software I use though, when I tried it.

Yeah, W2k3 is faster than XP and 2000. It certainly is picky about certain software, and I had to install DirectX 9 by hand, but all the games work fine otherwise.

As far as I know--Vista IS NOT avalable to the general public.

You have to be a developer or a member of Microsoft MSDN to get it.

GET IT? :P

Get VMware, it's a great program. You can run a bunch of OSes at once on your main machine without it affecting your main OS (well unless you network them and launch a virus or something :P)
