Please can you download this theme skin maker
http://www.themeengine.com/themeengine/index.html

it is a trail demo now? i got the last free version a few years ago.

and then go get the media monkey program from

http://www.mediamonkey.com you can get the free version.

then after installing the media monkey you can go in to its folders and look for the skin folder. in that one you can change the wsz file to zip and unzip it.

you will see a theme.mskn file you will need to start the theme skin maker up and then open that mskn file and export all the images to a folder.

then you can adjust the images to what you want them to be with an image editor and use the theme maker to make them in to a skin again. and save them as the mskn format please some one do this it seems there are very few of us making skins for this player and all of us users want more choices in full skins for it.

thanks.

thanks for checking the skin i asked about in the other message.

it does work fine after i click on the tray and open it once. but if wmp is closed when i click on an avi wmv mpeg. file the wmp will open but the auto adjust only moves the trays out to the postion to fit the avi size? makes no sense to me?

go and get the free photo shop replacement called gimp.

you can find it at snapfiles.com, majorgeeks.com, tucows.com, nonags.com and just about every other freeware site.

it does 99.7% of what photo shop does.

and is free
:awesome:

hmm ok roving
then after installing the media monkey you can go in to its folders and look for the skin folder. in that one you can change the wsz file to zip and unzip it.
there were 3 wsz files (3 default skins) so i grabed one and unzipped it
theres only the main player in there and its like winamp so should be simple enuff ^^
you will see a theme.mskn file you will need to start the theme skin maker up and then open that mskn file and export all the images to a folder.
ok now is the theme.mskn file in monkeys skin folder or in the .wsz file?

there is one .mskn file called default.mskn in monkeys skin folder but im guessing thats not the one your talking about .. also assuming that there should be one for each skin?
just a guess but that theme.mskn file would have the files needed to skin the rest of the player correct

donno if its just me missing somthing or if it is the default.mskn your talking about

yes i knew there was more then one skin in the folder.

it is just like winamps skin when you unzip the wsz file because it is a winamp skin.
the author justs makes a winamp skin, then uses the theme engine to make a full media monkey skin of the winamp skin because meida monkey uses winamp skins also. and puts the mskn file in the wsz file and that is what tells media monkey what to use for the full skin.

it only uses the main player of the winamp skin.

you could start up the theme program and extract the images from the default skin. i did not think about that i just used one of the other skins so i would not mess up the default one.

but mskn=mega compressed skin

so it is super small file that contains all the images in the skin and is only able to have the images uncompressed by the theme engine program.

the theme engine program has a place for you to add your images into it's gallery for it to compress that way you do not need to add your images to the zip file when your finished making the skin just add the theme.mskn file to the zip and then after zipping it change the extenstion to .wsz

and it is then a winamp skin also you should change the images for winamp too but those would have to be included in the zip file that is why you seen them when you unzipped the skin.

after you add all the images in to the theme engine gallery you then make the objects use the images you want them to use.

the reason i used a previous made skin is because it is easier to use that theme.mskn file and someone elses coding of the objects,
then making one with all the coding your self.

speaking of which becareful of changing the coding on the right had window in the theme engine as that can have adverse effects on the skin as it will make images not show up or be in the wrong places? so i just change the name of the skin and the author in that right hand window.

something else you might want to know. the fonts for the buttons on the button menu are controled by the desk top of the computer the skin is on. so it is best to make them able to be seen when the fonts are black.

what it seems to be doing with the theme engine program is skinning part of the windows shell ex.
and the button menus can be slid around in that area like the address and links menu on explorer but that background can not use an image it has to be a color.

i think all that is because of the way media monkey is built it is a explorer and media player type of program.

i thank you for trying to make a skin for it we really want some more ideas for skins and different thoughts from different folks. :awesome:

now it is my turn to say?

thats a good question?

i wonder where i put that thing i looked and it is not in the folder i save them all in ? must be on a cdrom some place? unless they did not have one and it was just a zipped up version? i was going to post it in the orginal post in this thread but i did not find it will look again. and try to upload it in this thread.

:o

well scratch that idea i did not find the installer on the computer it must be on the back up cdrom i made. but the folder says it needs installed in the ide so there is an installer for it.

and i just zipped up the folder for it, and the size is 8.34 mb's so i can't post it here
unless the installer is smaller i will continue looking for the installer.

any good at skinning? did you not look at my skin page.

anyway i am not able to find the back up of the installer yet? i am thinking it is just on this computer and every time i click it to see if it will install it starts up the program as it does not need to install it. since it is already on the computer.

man i have been up all night looking for the free version on line also.

and all i can find is loads of cracked warz sites that have the reg's for the newer pro version but that is not really good to steel it. and the one you got don't work anyway.

as for anything else to make them? not that i can find.

i have had it i am going to go to sleep and think on it some more but i will try putting that file on the other computer where the program is not at and see if it will install it when it is not already on the computer.

i have also been up all morning redoing another one of my old winamp skins. when i get it ready i will post it on my site too.

if you want to trippple wild go ahead and make a winamp one send it to me i will continue with your idea and make it a full skin for media monkey then send it back to you for you to post on your site. as i am running out of room again on mine? 3 sites and i still don't have enough room.

LORD DRATHCO if you can figure out how to make an mskn skin with another program that would be great.
