I forgot that land economy is not implimented yet, land just stays the same price all the time. Eventually I'll make it so land prices fluctuate depending on various factors, or I might just make it completely randomized.

*PST* (Need bombs to attack places). Ya, seems that the cybervillage has been overun by "takian land". Can't buy anymore land (Or limited land). Need to implement a land overtake section (Like, somebody tries to bomb you and if they are successful, they get the land). It's up to the person to put enough defense into the land to keep it (Kind of like the bank idea). Would be fun to see. Come back from vacation and you're missing some buildings
. I know a few people I would attack

Haha yeah that's something I want to impliment. I would not make it so there's any type of defense since a terrorist attack can happen pretty much no matter how strong a building is. But I'd make it very hard and costly to do, and when you succeed you'd be in federal probation so you can't access the cybervillage for like 24 hours, so someone could potentially take back the land as it would make the value go down. But not 100% sure if I'll in fact use that system or not. I'd have different types of bombs too, like 3X3 area bombs, scattering bombs, etc. You just enter the X and Y position just like battleship and BOOM!

Finally got started on the terrorism feature. This should be fun.
I'll have to regulate it somehow so it does not get out of hand too much though. I think there will be like a 1 attack per month maximum or something like that, and the same person can't attempt twice in a row.

Wow did not realize but this system is quite involved. Basically there's different types of areas to strike (the menue shown changed a bit, but gives you an idea)
So I need to create a 2D array of this area, then randomly hit certain spots in that array based on bombs purchased. Now this is the easy part. It's basically a for nexted into another for, that creates an array, where $array[0][0] is the center of the explosion. [0][0] is the coords.
Now I need to calibrate that array with the map based on the entered values, then detect each single array element that has a 1 in it (strike) and do a sql query to modify the map table.
So quite a process. I could make it easy by hard coding every possible type of strike but that would be bad coding as it makes it harder to change the type of strikes in the future.
But this is a fun coding experience.

Figured an easier way. Don't need an array, well it's more like a virtual array, since it's still a in loop system to keep track of a 2D area but it does it much more efficiently.
But anyway, I'm probably just confusing everyone.

Hehe getting some progress.
I still have to impliment the federal probation and all that though, since changes of getting caught are big enough and if you get caught you can't access the cybervillage. this gives victims a chance to reclaim their land, but they have to buy it and the money goes to you so it's all good.

Need to add flames to the terror rubble
. The terrorism thing sounds sweet, but losing ALL your money and items?
. Red, you know I have at least 30 millions IC's spread out across 7 banks. That would be massive harsh (And you know I'd bomb people, it's just my style
). Need to devise a way to protect your land too. Wait a sec, this is starting to sound like Red Alert
. lol. But from the looks of it so far, it looks wickod. Can't wait to test out the new options
.

Yeah not sure yet about the punishment of getting caught, I don't think I'll make it so you loose EVERYTHING, but it will probably eat out a big chunk. But it all goes by the explosion span. the smaller, then less chance of getting caught. But even if you get caught the terrorist act is performed, assuming you got past the 1/5 chance of getting caught before.
But getting caught in that sense will most likely just be a fine.
So basically to perform a terrorist act you need the following:
- That the last attack was less then a week ago
- Pass the 1/5 chance of not getting caught.
At this point the attack is performed, but there's a chance of getting caught and loosing allot.
So terrorist acts won't be an every day thing due to the risk, but if well planed can pay off well to the attacker. Also if one of your buildings get's bombed, the business itself is not affected, just the building, so you just buy more land, then associate it with that business.
Right now I'm having an issue with the way land sales are done, not sure why I did it that way, but it goes by ID instead of coordinates, so when land gets bombed there's now way of plugging the ID in the query to change the link without having 2 queries per bomb.
But by tonight I should have it all working and stuff so I'll test it locally then upload the files.
Next project will be to make land value go up/down dynamicly. Right now a terrorist attack makes the land worth 1/5th of it's original value. So you can buy attacked land dirt cheap.
And yeah those graphics will probably be done better, I made those pretty quickly.

Would be kind of cool to have a land buy out option too. Like, if somebody comes by and buys all of the land in the cybervillage and never goes back on it for about a month, then it should be put back up for sale (Mostly talking about bare land tiles that have been purchased and not necesarily industries or houses). If the person really cares about the land, they should have to pay to keep it. The cybervillage isn't really of use if nobody can buy land because somebody bought all of it and kept it from being sold. It wouldn't have to be much money anyways, maybe like 20 ic's to keep the land for another month. Just my thoughts and ideas about the cybervillage. It would benefit people because land that is just going to waste will be available for use by other people in the cybervillage. Also, people who buy a massive amount of land will have to take care of it or they'll lose it (Hence, the cybervillage would be more active). The cybervillage would also change as well because people who don't pay to keep the land will allow others to build more freely on and around the area.

Yeah not a bad idea. Not sure how a monthly fee of ICs could be implimented though. But it would probably be easier to make it so you can buy out land, the person gets a message and has to click a link to decline, so if the person does not show up then the land would be sold automaticly.
But the terrorist attacks will also solve this problem in a semi risky way.
But I think what I'll do instead of loosing all your items and stuff you'd only loose all your money and get the probation, so a smart thing to do is to buy tons of stuff before performing an attack.

Ya, the terrorist attack will allow you to take a massive amount of land without really paying for it (Well not really because you still have to build stuff). And for those who like to take risks, it'll be fun, kind of like robbing the banks in the cybervillage. Then again, for the people who just wish somebody didn't build that igloo in front of the pathway of their yacht and disappeared for 6 months, will be able to claim the land for themselves

Ouch... One strike using 500 bombs and 11X11 area strike.
I just realized though I need a way to make it so federal buildings like the central bank and central mall and forum fun can't be destroyed since they're "system" buildings that are not human controlled. I think I'll just hard code some undestructable coordinates in the bombing system.
But yeah the 11X11 blast will be very lethal, but the odds are the persond doing it will loose most of their cash and go on a 48 hour probation so during this time people can steal whatever's left of him.
I think I'll make it so the 5 most powerful items also get confiscated, but the odds of that will be half of the odds of getting caught, so for the 3x3 blast and stuff the odds will be slim.
This system will definatly benifit the economy and avoid inflation. That said, good thing I don't run a country.

Evil evil evil.
Code: Select all
//check to see if you get caught
$number = rand(1,100);
if($number<$caughtchance) //oh noes!!
{
$totaluserfunds = GetTotalUserFunds($userid);
$fine = rand($totaluserfunds/2,$totaluserfunds+($totaluserfunds/2));
AddCash("wallet",$userid,$fine*-1,"0");
echo("
Oops! You got caught and put on a 48 hour federal probation and loose ".$fine." ICs! But hey, the attack was performed and that's what counts!");
$result = mysql_query("update rtmembers set cybervillage_probation='".(time()+172800)."' where id='".$userid."' LIMIT 1;") or die("<font color="red">SQL Error: " . mysql_error()."</font>");
}
[code]
I think I'll stick with that, no removing of items, this will be bad enough. :lol: But even with the 10% chance it always hits so there's some tweaking to do with that code to make it more acurate.

I really want to test this before since if there's any bugs it could lead to a disaster so everyone go here and try it out:
http://icetekshq.ath.cx:443/virsites/iceteks/forums/
Just always double check your address bar to ensure you're on that server as there's a few places where iceteks.com is hardcoded.
Oh and for username and password use:
user: icetekstest
pass: squirrel
Oh and you'll have to login to the forum first as it's a different server. Not everything on the site is functional at that url because of path issues.

I made a temp account so that my main char doesn't get screwed over (Probably won't but I'm just taking precautions
). Can you temporarily boost my IC's so that I can buy bombs? Username is matti (Of course).
. 200000 ic's should be enough

Actually it won't be affected so you can use your other account which already has like 100000000 ICs.
But I'll boost the other anyway just for fun.

It's actually pretty hard to get a successful strike in. So that's good since we don't want TOO many attacks going on.
For the test I think I'll disable the probations though.

Yes it can destroy your own land too.
But after an attack all the land you attack is owned by you after, so all you'd have to do is reput the building and set it to point to the business you want. The disadvantage is if you get the probation then someone can buy the land, but at least you can money out of it.
So there are risks involved, definatly. My suggestion is to bomb other people's areas.
