The cleaning lady of a Salvation Army hostel was getting exasperated with
items disappearing.
One day it would be a box of detergent, the next day it would be a roll of
paper towels and so on.
So when the hostel's step ladder disappeared, she knew it was time for
action.
To this end, she posted the following sign:
"WOULD THE PERSON WHO TOOK THE STEP LADDER YESTERDAY PLEASE BRING IT BACK OR
FURTHER STEPS WILL BE TAKEN."
