6.0.1.8 support [complete]

I'm currently working on supporting the latest OSI client packet changes. This will require everyone to have at least 6.0.1.7, so just a heads up. But for now DO NOT update to this version. Stay at 6.0.x.x-6.0.1.6 for now.

Unfortunatly for 3D users, this will mark the end of that client here at AoV.

However, there are much better things to come, eventually. (starts with K)

This is going smoother then I expected. Items now show properly in bags, items can be dropped to the ground, and a few other minor packet and item fixes are in. theres still more to do. Most of this code comes from a post at runuo.com, but since we run a highly customized runuo core/scripts, I have to pretty much scan line by line and only change whats really required for our case. Basically I needed the packet changes which I'm thankful someone reversed engeneered (and fast).

This update might be ready to go in shortly, but I'll have to test it a lot. Also it will most likely require people to update to the latest client. There will be little to no transition period unfortunatly.

I do a clean install, update it to 6.0.1.8, and back it up. If I have to reinstall later on after they stop supporting patches, can I just overwrite my UO folder with the backed up version?

No messy registry or other crap to deal with? Or will it be more complex then that?

Seems only the files themselves matter. So yeah once this patch is supported be sure to backup the 6.0.1.8 as EA is dropping the 2D client very soon.

Got containers drag/drop to work correctly now. Just have to fix vendors and then the rest is testing.

You know you're a programmer hard at work when you got like 10 windows open... lol

That and you start running out of taskbar space and the scroll bar starts popping up.

just rename the folder to something else then rename your backed up client to the original folder name.

You *do* have a backup, right? :P

Every patch, its good to do a copy of the current uo folder and name it whatever patch it is like "uoclient 6.0.1.6" then update, so if it screws up you can revert.

If all goes well with vendor changes, I should be ready to support this tomorrow, then everyone will be forced to update to 6.0.1.7 or .8.

Not really. You could always download and install uoml_setup.exe, then patch back up to before 6.0.1.7.

Thats exactly why I said that. Takes YEARS to do all those patches from 4.1.0.6. :/

The support for 6.1.0.8 is something very complicated, it wont come THAT soon.

6.0.1.8 *might* work tomorrow after SW. Curently it works on the test server, the only known issue is the special hair dye dealer gump has no buttons on it. This leads me to think theres been some gump changes, but all other gumps seem to be working ok. I need to test this very good before updating as this involves tcp protocol issues and if something is wrong, it could be a disaster.

For those who have updated, feel free to get on the test server and try anything that could possibly link to drag/drop items, secure trades, containers, gumps and anything else you can think of that might be broken.

The EASIEST WAY TO BACK UP YOUR FILES:

1. Go to your UO ML Install Directory. Probably is this: C:/Program Files/EA Games/Mondain's Legacy/

2. Copy ALL FILES in this directory.

3. Paste ALL FILES that you JUST COPIED in a folder called "ML 6.0.1.x" (x representing whatever your client is currently at. I am at "4") somewhere on your computer. I prefer My Documents.

4. Return to your UO ML install directory. Run the uopatch.exe file.

5. After the patch is complete, Create another folder in the same directory as the last one you created called "ML 6.0.1.8", which is what the client is now at, because you patched.

6. Now, COPY all those updated files in your install directory, and paste them into the created folder "ML 6.0.1.8".

7. Then, COPY AND PASTE the original files that you FIRST COPIED, back into your install directory. You will now be back at whatever client you first started at, with the 6.0.1.8 files already on your computer ready to be pasted in when Squirrel finishes the update.

If you have patched without backing up your current files, you will have to find the ML client 6.0.1.6 or earlier, on the internet somewhere, download it, and install it over your current client.
