Hi all i am going to download the invasion power board "free" trail version for my site... but what i need to know is how to upload it onto my site? And what do i download?

I'm afraid you don't know enough to install, run, and maintain a forum. None-the-less a site. May I view your site?

Just checked out your site. Looks like a free site. Just so you know, you can't install IPB to a free site. Sorry.

it's not a free site tho its just a free domain name i dont think the domain name has anything to do with it.

Let's put it this way. From the look of it, it doesn't look like you have any sort of FTP access. THAT is going to be necessary for an IPB installation.

I don't try to be an , but that site isn't worth wasting your time adding a forum. Most people don't look at a site that doesn't have something new to offer. It also looks like a preset layout.

yes i do havel ftp access... but i just downloaded a template for it since i cant make tables in front page.

I always save my downloads too, you never know when the company will start charging.

I think I got a 2.0 somewhere. 1.3 I don't think I ever downloaded but suposely it's illegal to use it now, well even our current version is illegal I think, but too bad for them it was free when I got it, and they even promissed to always keep it free and broke that promise.

If you want something slightly more lightweight (probably scale better) you could try phorum. phpBB probably has more options and available mods though.

Also, I refuse to believe you can't do tables in frontpage, I would have thought frontpage would have been entirely dependent on tables.

Frontpage does tables last time I used it, but I screwed up my entire site by having too many nested tables, it could not handle it. That's when I switched to notepad, much more flexible and more reliable.

You can't beat notepad for html.

I use Zend Studio now but only because it is easier to write php code. It handles html just the same.

Notepad2, Yo! It was made for coding. It color codes different scripts, line, codes, etc. Sorry I don't have a link to it, though.

I design completely in Photoshop for my lack of knowledge in any scripting language what-so-ever.

I've heard about it but never used it. One of the applications on the OpenCD. I've used several of the other programs the CD includes.

Actually I use winsyntax, which for some reason is no where to be found, but there's plenty of text editors out there. I had started off with notepad when I dumped frontpage though, but wanted something more advanced, and with tabbing. When working on squirrelBBS (something I have not done in a while. ) I can have as much as 10 different scripts open at once.

I could arrange that, but you can't use it on a public site, only on an intranet, because they'll be able to find out easly. They keep a list of all the sites that paid, I think.
