Tip: when explorer.exe gets laggy on you

This has happened to all of us at least once, where explorer just decides to be very slow and bring down the whole system. But there's a solution that seems to work for me most of the time. Hit ctrl+alt+del and go to task manager, find explorer and set the priority to low, or below normal, then hit "new task" and do something else while you wait for explorer to get it's act together. When explorer is crapping out at normal priority it will bring the whole system to a laggy state, so you're stuck waiting after it.

I also find that it recovers quicker in this state. Don't forget to set it back to normal after. (though I'm not sure if it's bad to leave it at low, never experimented enough with that)
