Now that we have the great way to set pet skills and all that, how about a flag on there that will make a pet behave a certain way? For example, you could set it to Mage, so it would stay back from a mob and cast. If you set it to Melee, it would charge its opponents (like it does now).

Some of that is kind of in place it seems. It is more coded to the type of creature or whatever it is as apposed to being player set. That would be a cool idea to be able to change the tactics of your pet based on commands in some way.

Yeah if you tame a vorpal chicken or other pet with 0 melee skill it will stand back. Just be sure to lock the skill so it does not go up.

What is the current threshold on that AI? Is it only if wrestling = 0, so 0.1 would change the behavior?

Yeah, I know some mobs do this by default, but it would be cool if I could set something to do it even though it may have 100 wrestling.

I believe it's less than 10 or 20 combat skill.

AN example would be storm troopers. They do everything possible to stay exactly 7 tiles away to attack.

Yeah the distance is predefined. If its more then 7 tiles it gets closer, if its closer then 5 it goes farther or something similar to that. Also if any mob is holding a bow it will automatically revert to keeping distance. For non archers think the threshold is 20 of total melee combat skill including wrestling. Wrestling is usually the case unless its jedi, ronins, ninjas etc.

I had thought of making a pet that can get any skill you want. You'd basically have some kind of system to toggle it. So if you want to give it mage, the system would give it 0.1 so it starts working it, and so on. Would have a 700 skill cap or something so you can pick skills like you would for a player.
