it is not possible. I saw it too. I asked my brother if it was indeed true but it isn't. He said that it was sped up with an emulator and recorded over a period of time. Think about it, where did he get a hammer to smash the wall or do the flutes really make you skip over that many levels....watch it you will know what I mean, oh and how did he get acrossed the suck in levels in level eight without being sucked it, it is impossible.
Hope I did not ruin it for you

No I think it's actually real, though it could be that it was sped up with the emulator, but the flutes he did get, one in the 3rd level and one in the casle, he then used it to go to the sky place then used the other to go to world 8.
What suprised me is at level one how he jumped on top in the clouds, I don't even know if it's possible, but he was going pretty fast and bouncing like crazy on the ennemies.
I did not know bowser could be killed by jumping on him though, man I used to do it the long way.

The guy who made this cheated. While it's theoritcally possible to do all of this, the guy who made the video actually paused the game every frame and used save states to backtrack and make sure he didn't good up.

Well, after seeing this movie it is a fine case of true and untrue. Now, I've played Mario 3 a lot. The first level, indeed, IS ACCURATE. No bs or anything. That is and was actually pulled off. How do I know? I own SMB3 for the gameboy advanced. I bought an ereader and I can play "demo cards" that show tricks and cool moves in mario and THAT was one of the demo cards (level 1). Now the rest of the emulation seemed to be alright. The doom ship in world 8 (The third one, where it's in the air) actually DOES move faster. The whistles that were aquired ARE in the levels shown and if you use both of them on the map screen, you WILL go to world 8 right away. Oh, and the mushroom part in bowser's castle where the guy moved through the walls IS accurate as well. What is NOT accurate is the fact that in world 8, the guy passed the hand traps in one shot. The chances of doing that are slim to nill. This was obviously a saved state that was restored until the guy could get across the hand traps without getting pulled in. The part where the guy was bouncing on the bullets gaining unlim 1-ups might be fake because 5 times, he came very close to hitting Rocky's wrench and losing his powerup. I doubt the majority of people would be able to dodge that so well. Other than that, it looked to be alright, HOWEVER saved states were definately used in SOME places

Well, proven or not, I thought I remember him admiting he had cheated, and it was fake and such. Now this genuine Mario #1 beaten in 5 or 8 minutes (I don't remember because I don't seem to actually know where it is right now
. Anyways, that might be real. I'll have to send it to Squirrel later when I do.

I just found this:
http://keithdevens.com/weblog/archive/2003...rMarioBrothers3
Pretty interesting, some say it's fake some say it isint. I think it's mostly real since anyone can just edit a video and post it and there's no point, but I do think some parts might of been cut and added, for example that part with the hands. Ether that or he kept replaying it until he does not get caught in. Either way if it's 100% real I'm sure it took many tries! But man he's good.

Wow, alot of people have to comment on that
. But I personally think that it's real. Like one guy put it, if it IS a fake, the guy put alot of time and effort into MAKING it a fake. It's mostly true but there are a few places where it is probably hacked or redone. However, that was just crazy. He certainly pulled off the Rambo shiat on that one. Most impressive. I wonder if he's the same guy that beat the original Mario in 5 min?

I wonder if it's a 1 shot recording, or if he died he just tried again and cut off the part where he died. Personally that's what I would of done probably.
Like those hand things in world 8, there's a chance of making it, but the chances are slim, probably took a few tries for sure.
