NIC cards for DSL?

The question is--

Can a conventional NIC card be use to link to the modem (or router or whatever they call it)

for typical DSL (its SBC) ?

Ny friends DSL just stopped, he had a trojan in his compute & after what seems to be about 4 years on the phone with him, we got it out, ran a XP repair & it still gives the message the remote computer is not responding.

They put in their own (SBC) NIC card & modem thingy box.

They're telling him it's in his PC-I don't think it is. :pissed off:

Naturally He's talking to someone in Baghdad or Pompeii or someother 3d world country. :P

He was on hold for over a half an hour just to begin to talk to someone.

I told him I thow it out & put in Road Runner. I don't wait a half hour for anyone (accept NUTMAN) :roflmao2:

SO-I thought we could try to route it thru his own NIC card & see what happens. :awesome:

Well the modem has to be plugged to a nic card... Or is it one of those cheap usb modems? If yes you need to setup the computer to do nat, then connect a hub or router (router is a better choice for speed and security).
