Yes, it's non profit. :P

Lately I've been having to post over 15 news items on the home page and I don't always have the time. So I need someone, or more then someone who is dedicated and can do it every day. Basically I will give you an email account that you check whenever and post everything that comes through, well everything relevent. I don't want viagra-related press releases on the home page. :P

Basically you'll get an email that looks like this:

Hey guys,

Just letting you know that VR-Zone Hardware has just posted an interview with Andrew Dodd, product manager for ATI's software group.

The interview can be found: http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=1016&s=1

"It's been about 2 years since you've started the Catalyst drivers and they have really evolved since then. Where would you see the Cats in 2 years?

I'd like to see the CATALYST driver as the #1 selling point for all ATI graphics card ;-)  We're going to stay focused and continue delivering the most stable, high performance driver in the industry.  We're also going to put significant effort into enhancing the usability and features available to the end-user in the coming months.
"

The interview is a quick read but pretty informative. Check it out!

Thanks,
VR-Zone Hardware
And copy and paste the info in the right fields of this form: http://www.iceteks.com/news/submit.htm

I'll take care of validating it from that point on, but it will greatly save me the time!

If anyone is interesting please post here or PM me and I'll give you more info.

Since I use an email gateway all my email is local so I still need to figure a way to foward the mail to your inboxes or an external email account. If worse comes to worse I just won't set it in the gateway, theres not that much spam on that account anyway.

I tried this before and the person really screwed things up and did something really stupid that made us look bad, so please, if you "apply" make sure you know what you're doing. You take the title, put it under "title" (and remove the @ site part) you take the site's name, put it under source etc.... it's fairly simple. Then the form takes care of storing it in the db and the home page parses it in the right format and automaticly ads the "title @ source" part.

I could help some but not every day but I do get two week days off and read up on stuff everyday on hardocp.com, anandtech.com, geek.com, and many other sites so posting breaking or intresting news, reviews, or big topics wouldnt be an issue for me.

All I request is a billion ice cubes a week for drinks at the bars! :yo: j/k

Ok, well the news to post is whatever comes trhough by email, but anyone is more then welcome to also post stuff they find interesting.

I think I will in fact give ICs for this, the easiest way is for me to program the script to automaticly give ICs when a certain user posts news. This could be abused though but I don't think it's something I have to worry about and if I see that it is then I'll make it more sophisticated. (ICs will only go in once the news is validated). The validating process is basically skimming through it to make sure no passwer bys put in junk. For example I had someone from 63.199.243.253 post ":censored: you" in the news. So that explains the validation part. ;)

But anyone is welcomed to post any news in there, wether you find it on another site or that you "apply" to help me and use the ones in the emails. But the email ones are the most important, and what you will find on [H] and stuff will usually be in emails as well.

I'm still figuring out how email distribution will work though, since I was thinking the best way would be that I have a mechanism evenly spread the email and send it to all the accounts of those that want to help.

Ok I think what I'll do take off the news account from my mail client and my gateway server so we can only use the web based one.

That way whoever wants to help will get the password for this account and you can check it whenever, and post as many as you wish, and the rest will be there for someone else. Seems like the best solution, to simply use web based.

As for the news post I'll figure out a script that will give ICs for each post. The script is fairly old so I can fix 'er up at the same time and make it based on the logged in user, and if it's a guest then they can enter a name. So when you post it will check the forum cookie and accordingly give the ICs.

I also forgot to mention, some of the sites that send news are affiliates and their site is listed in the drop down menu, so try to check it and use it for affiliates. That way their logo is displayed.

And for news post that include images, you don't have to post an image for each post. I usually restrict images to affiliates, and maybe the last post of a bunch. So if you do 5, the 5th one can contain an image. But it's up to you how you want to work with this, but just letting you know not all images have to be posted with the news post.

just bumping this in case anyone else is interested. We get over 20 new news items every day and I'd like to be able to post them all but I don't always have time. So if we're like 4 of us that check every day then that only makes 5 to post.
