This has been ripped out of one of the latest SP2 builds. Anybody that wants to get their hands on this without having to install SP2 will want to follow these directions. I've decided to put these up for anybody that was wanting them but having trouble getting their hands on them through other sources.

Installation Instructions:
(1) boot into safemode.
(2) Install Direct X 9.0c executable.
(3) Install Hotfix.
(4) Install the Registry Patch.
(5) Reboot.
(6) Click Start. Click Run. Type dxdiag.
(7) Verify it has been installed under the system tab.
(8) You're finished.

Enjoy your pixel shader goodness. I haven't seen anybody really take a good look at DX9.0c yet, but I'm sure that somebody will eventually.

I did the install and it works and does verify as DX 9.0c but there is 1 bug I caught if you watch the DOS window going by doing the file copies there is a file that cant be overwritten and updated. DSOUND.DLL stays at 5.03.0000.0900 instead of getting updated to 5.03.2600.2126 Reason it bugs out is the file is still in use EVEN in safe mode. I cant find a way to extract the file by hand out of the install script and install it manually if anyone knows how to get around it or fix that problem post it up. Otherwise the install works flawlessly.

hmm that's interesting. But does it work even with the older file? It's probably not worth the trouble. The only thing I can think of is doing it off a dos boot disk that has an ntfs read/write driver.
