I have some cassette tapes I would like to put in my computer. I already have a cord that will connect to my pc's sound card ( blue input?) on one end and two male audio ends at the other end. I'm not sure if should disconnect the two cables from the "audio out" in my music souce and connect my other ends there. I have a Kenwood home stereo with a cassette player/recorder. Is there someone at the forum that can give me advise? I also need to know what program I can use for this task and where to get it. Please, I need all the help I can get and will be very gratefull!!!

Not sure if you already read it but here's an article that covers this: http://www.iceteks.com/articles/db.php/act...cle/tape2pc/p/1

Basically you just need a plain patch cord with both plugs the size of ear phones.

yep red did a good artical on that just remember to read all the user inputs on the articals there are always more things added to them by us members.

software is what you asked for.

there is lots of good payfor software and lots of good free ones just finding the free ones is getting hard.

look for wave editor's at snapfiles.com it use to be webattack.com the are free ones there that should work.

you just need to tell your computer to record from the line in mixer and mute the microphone. then you will beable to put the sounds on the computer hd.

just make sure you have enough room on the hard drive as a wav file takes up 10 mb's of space for one minute of sound.

good luck and ask more if you need more help or help in understanding what is in the artical. B)

...some mp3 players can be used to record anything you like via the line in/ mic then you just copy the mp3 files to your PC... not brilliant quality but easy
