I just got this email
The domain iceteks.com (iceteks) has reached 80% of its bandwidth limit.
Please contact the system admin as soon as possible.
It's nice to be popular, but I can't afford more bandwidth, looks like we'll have to live with some downtime at the end of each month until I get a real job (in about 3-4 years). Scarry.

As a start, I got rid of the dymanic sig. It's cool and all, but I think the actual GDI thing uses up bandwidth even though it loads the data off another server, I think it loads it up to the host then loads it to the viewer, unlike my current one which simply redirects to the other server. I can still do the rotating images, just not the IP ones. I'll see if this helps us make it to the end of the month. I contacted my host about possibly upgrading to the next package for free, since they changed them and it's the same price I'm paying now.

Yeah, I hope the host will give me back the extra 10 they promissed me when the server kept going down... I was only using about 2GB then but now I need more then 10! Getting slashdotted uses about 10Gigs in one night, so I must be prepared.
If worse comes to worse I can get a dedicated server and pay 200 bucks a month or whatever and I can offer hosting to cover the price, but the problem is, the startup fee (before I have enough customers) and the fact that I know little about linux, I'd have to go with windows.

Windows is decent.
Linux is better.
ANyway, I hope things get sorted out, because I'd be bored to death if this place went down.

you might try to cut back on the skin images red just use more color then images.
also that bot takes up some bandwidth every time it runs.

j/k
You should definitely try to work out a deal with the host though. They should owe you a few favors after all that downtime.

I got 5GB extra... but that's still not that much. I think I'll just have to get a dedicated server soon.. those are expensive and charge per month, which is a big problem for me.

Wow we're at 95,000 page views for this month. I think we'll be able to break 100,000! good thing it's the leap year.
Also, the hosting packages actually changed since I signed up, the one that I'm on right now gives me 5GB space 10GB bandwidth (now 15GB) and the equivelent in terms of pricing is 750MB space and 35GB transfer, so I'll ask if I can simply transfer account to the new package when it's time to renew. Even if it means to close down this account and open a fresh one, I'll do it, that might involve extended downtime, but it's not like we never got any of that before.
The title I put might not be the best, since this is definatly good that we are getting this popular, but it's just not good in terms of bandwidth.
