No one should be without an anti virus program. This is a good free one, just remember to keep it updated as you should with any anti virus program.

You may want to try this free firewall. I'm very pleased with it, tried the Pro version and went back to the free edition as it seems to work just as well and is not as complicated. ;)

Yep for sure. Only go without a A/V if you REALLY know what you're doing, but even then, it's better to go with one. I have one myself, but it never caught anything, since I would catch it first by knowing it's a virus. But when I used to use IE it used to catch lot of stuff while surfing the internet. :o
