troubles with brower
am having trouble with the ie browswer it keeps crashing for some reason on this xp.? mainly doing it after my sister has done a long online gaming session?
she gets off line and runs the ad aware. then later i get on the computer and click an shortcut to start a program or go to a folder. and then the ie crashes to where i have to reboot, i dont have to reboot to get the ie to look right i just have to log off and then log back on for that.
but if i do that and then try to go online to get email or go to any web site, the ie will just sit there and then say in the title bar "ie is not responding" so i have to get off line which when i try to the connection wont disconnect and i just have to close it down with it connected or unplug the phone line but the connection computer icon in the tray stays there until i reboot.,
is this one of the items ms was unable to figure out or is it more then likely cause by some other 3rd party software,
thanks.

When IE starts giving you problems, it's not worth keeping it anymore.

That is quite weird... Perhaps you would like to try something besides AdAware for scanning to see if it's missing anything? Spybot Search and Destroy is a good one.
Also, you may want to clear IE's cache and cookies. Maybe the homepage contains code that IE chokes up on?

Your browser may have been hijacked. You may want to try a repair.

It sounds like a browser hijack this link will allow you to download a freeware program called "Hijackthis"

The information you need to understand the logs is quite well explained here:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/htlogtutorial.html
or you can post the log and I'll take a look at it.

ok if it is a hajak thing then it is not working and my blocking program keeps it from working. that would be the reason it crashes then it gets mad cause it cant hijak my ie.
but i did also find out that it crashes a lot when i run the system at a high prioity instead of normal. so i stopped doing that. and i also have been cleaning out old files that did not get removed by the uninstaler for them old programs.
and i did try spybot s&d before but when i told it to load that protect from bad web page thing it has. the dang thing crashed and i could not open it to get back in to shut that off so i uninstalled it.
but the hijacker just might be an ad company since the games my sister plays are on yahoo or popcap games and both of them have add banners when you play the games.
it does not do this only when she plays games or i run the system on high prioity.
so i seem to have widdled it down to my fault or a hijak attempt? thanks.

Did you see the Adaware log after your daughter ran it to see what was picked up? If possible, update Adaware and run it again.

There is another program you might as well run while you are trying to fix things. It's called Regvac. It will search your registry for errors including software and spyware. It's only a 30 day trial but you only need to run it once then uninstall it.
