im wanting to buy a camcorder but im not familiar with them really. this will be my first one. im wanting to be able to send the video from the camera to my pc. to save it and encode it and place content on a cd. are there any specific features that i need to look for in a camera? will i need additional hardware for my pc to be able to do this?

thanx-

It depends what interface you get. The one I know well enough is composite which is the connectors used for a VCR, the red, white and yellow. Red and white are sound (left and right) and yellow is your video. So you need a video capture card in your PC and a connector to go from the camera to the PC.

There's also a better interface called firewire, but I never tried it but it's the same concept, you need a firewire port on your PC, and one on the camera, and I asssume a modern video capture program will enable you to capture through the firewire port.

get a new one the best one out now has " 3CCD " in it but that might make it cost more too?

still if you get a newer one they will let you use firewire usb or Svideo. anyone of them will get it from the camcorder to the computer.
