Very soon, I will be deplopying a dedicated server for halo. It's not technically "dedicated" but it will run on a machine that has more then twice the requirements to run it so it will still get the dedicated end of things. :D

It will run on my PC which is on 24/7 and is on battery backup so downtime will be minimal. I will only close it when I do intensive/pricise tasks such as rendering a video.

So for those of you who don't have Halo I recomend you go out and buy it since it's worth it and we can have some fun CTF and stuff. (Capture the flag)

So just thought I'd annouce this.

Right now I'm posting at their forums since I can't get it to work properly and once it's up and tested and ready I'll let you all know. B)

I think I will wait till they do the full release of the server because right now it's in beta and I can't get it to work behind a router. Hopefully they will make it work the same way as hosting a game... since that works no problem behind a router. I would have to foward like over 10 ports - not worth the security risk.

Just an update. I'm looking into wether or not I can set up a "listen" server which works differently then a normal dedicated server. If there's such thing, I will not need to have it listen on ports (I don't know why they call it a listen server then...) so that way I won't have to minimize my PCs security by fowarding tons of ports.

I'm also looking into designing a custom map, would be really cool!

Good news: I got it to work, but now it's advertising my local IP because I'm behind a router, and even though there's only one PC on the network right now I don't want to directly connect for security reasons. But I am looking into a way to get it to advertise the right IP (external). I might have to wait for a patch which will hopefully be made.
