And I have friday off. Guess what I'll be doing? :biglaugh:

It's actually a perfect timing for a day off because it will be better to do my review. I'll start playing it this week get to learn the controls and stuff, then friday I can play longer and write the review by the end of next week.

This was sent free from Microsoft. What's really cool is that I don't think other tech sites made reviews of this so far, so I might be one of the first ones, so I'll make sure to made a good one. B)

That will take one long ethernet cable, but I'll see if I can join. Maybe a fiber ATM circuit will be best for this. :D

I'm playing it right now. man this is awesome so far. I'm just in the "easy" section but there's more. And I can play online I think... that's sweet.

I keep shooting my own guys on purpose, then the others are all "what the hell?" I shot 3 of them in a row and now they are shooting at me. Not like most games where if you shoot your own guys nothing happends.

now, before I need to kill off these aliens myself, I'll stop shooting my own guys. :roflmao:

This is actually the same concept as "all your base are belong to us" but much much much better. :D

here's a little teaser... there will be much more screen shots in the article. Taking screen shots is tricky though since it only works 1/5 of the time. I usually end up pasting an old screen shot even though I pressed print screen 5 times.

So far it's awesome! I have all friday to play too! :biglaugh: I'll probably get up early so I can play lot more. :D

Yeah was just joking around, that's what I figured it was. The real term would be a WAN party in this case though. :D (wide area network).

hmm that gives me an idea... our school's network is 100MBPS ATM up to the main office, we should get all the schools together and have a huge LAN/WAN party. Yeah, like that would be allowed. :lol2:

And here are a few more screen shots. I noticed I can capture it with my capture device (a very unreliable thing though, the stupid capture program crashes and reboots the computer - but the progress remains saved). So when I get enough action and stuff , I'll be able to get some more screen shots of pure action, situations where pressing pring screen is one key too many.

I might also make a "trailler" video, but that won't be part of the review since this host does not allow media files, and even if they did, I would not have the bandwidth for that!

But I will put it on the Ares network though... not that I have it on often though.

Hmm, looks like I won't be able to finish the single player mission. This must be a bug or something. I got into a space ship (I need to get to a high place that's impossible to get to by foot) and the space ship does not fly. Whatever. Tomorow I'll check out multi player gaming and finish off the review.

Still find that stupid though that the space ship does not fly... I got into one exact space ship before and it did fly... it's suppost to. I hope I don't have to install no silly patches. Sure this is made by Microsoft but I'm hoping at least there games don't have dumb problems.

Actually I realized the ship is not suppost to fly, I'm suppost to use it to get past some crazy fighting and there's a secret tunnel that keeps going.

But because of a data disaster I lost everything including the screen shots (about 30 of them, hard to get screen shots at that) and game progress, and the review as well. I'm pist that I did not save that on my D drive, that's where I usually save my stuff.

So far it's great though, fun to play. I was getting at a much harder point though. And now I have to replay it all if I want to get back there. I think I'll stick to playing online for now. Probably the most violent capture the flag game I've ever played. I was laughing so hard because a vehicle went flying on me and it sayed "redsquirrel was killed by a vehicle". :roflmao2:

yeah. that does suck. i don't normally try to get screenshots of games because it's a pain in the tush, imo - especially trying to get sequences. does that game have some kind recording mechanism? i think there's a couple of games that can record (full video mode type of recording) while you play. at least i remember hearing of such kind of games.

This one does not have anything like that, but I can actually use print screen to take them, that usually does not work in games (you just get a black screen). And the game is actually quite reliable so all the alt+tabing does not cause it to go all weird and crash and stuff.

I think what I'll do though is hit record on my VCR and then capture the tape and extract the screen shots from there, but I will probably loose lot of quality. If I have time I might even make a little "trailler" video and put it on Ares and I can meantion it in the review. Too bad I can't have my own server anymore though as I could host it. Oh well.

All this data loss just to turn a partition from 7GB to 10GB. That's all I wanted to do but to resize it I had to delete the linux partition which caused the boot problems.

well wldkos told you a couple of ways for that (fdisk /mbr or fixmbr). just file it away for next time. what os are you running that uses ntfs?

win2k. I don't think none of the dos tools would of worked, but I wishi I knew about the fdisk /mrb thing so I could of tried it, that and the fact that Linux can still run if it's not a primary partition, because I could of reinstalled red hat and it would of fixed the bootloader so it can load windows.

I'm thinking of converting this into fat32 though. While ntfs is more efficient, it's not like there a noticable difference in speed etc... only bigger cluster sizes are the issue and it's not the end of the world.

i think win2k uses the command fixmbr and not the fdisk command. how you get there i dunno. maybe put in your win2k install cd or something like that.

Halo was great. I played it on my XBox both single and multiplayer. But, I do like how it was mentioned that it's been played at LAN Parties. I throw a fair number of them over each year, so maybe I'll look in to adding that to my game roster.

cool that would definatly be an awesome game for a LAN party. Actually you'll have to tell me more about this as I'd be interested... never been to one before.

I think the review is ready to be released, just need to make it in html, choose and add the screen shots and release it. Don't want to take too long for it. I think I'll play some more to get screen shots of more levels and maybe have a chance to beat it, if not I'll still go ahead with the review as I have the main things down anyway.
