bank steal feature

I'm slowly working on the steal feature. First I had to make a "mall" and you can buy items and it's sort of like playing an RPG game, the items have a HP (health power) rating for defence and one for damage. So if you own something that has a defence of 1000HP and someone "attacks" you with something that has a damage of 900, they loose the "fight" and your item now has 100 defence only so if he attacks again with another item higher he can "win".

There will not be fights, but instead there will be the steal feature which will use this concept to decide of the robery is successfull. There will be an option to rob a specific user, or a random user, and also an option to rob the bank.

Also, before you even get to use your items' HP against others, there will be a random algorthm that decides if you get to that point, and if you don't it will be like getting busted for trying to steal and you will loose 50% of your ICs or whatever.

Not 100% how it will work, but it's close to that.

I just want some suggestions on other ideas on how this could work. The base of it all will be the HP, but I'm not 100% sure how stealing the bank will work, so I'm open to suggestions, if none are given I'll think of something.

Also, here is the mall

http://www.iceteks.com/forums/cybervillage/mall.php

I can't really think of any other items that can be added so gimme some suggestions.

You can test out the buy feature, but all items will be removed from the database once I officially add this to the cybervillage. Right now it does not charge money for anything.

interesting. So before introducing a virtual robbing feature, you are first adding a virtual looting feature

*manadren just seen dashing out of the mall with a tank under each arm*

This is going to be neat I think. I hope you're having a lot of fun making it.

PHP is very fun! I made a little "You are x years old" and "Your name is x" (X being the input on a form) thing today. That was neat. I know it's not much, but I got excited over it at least. I even made it to where "years" would change to "year" if the input was just 1. I can just imagine the fun things I'll be able to do with more skill.

I liken this to shouting "I maked my first simple sentence!" in college English class... :roflmao2:

I basically gave up on the bank thing. There isn't much to spend my $50,000 dollars on, so you guys can steal it from me if you want.

lol

You can always do a title whore and change everyone's title. :roflmao2:

This is not an official rule but just make sure it's appropriate! :P

Yeah, that's fun. I've changed some titles... <_>

EDIT: And mine's been changed too! (Wldkos.... :P)

Yes that's true! What you did is the basics, but it only gets a bit more complicated as you add more then one field and more if statements etc...

I'll have to make another one on data storage and I can talk about mysql and stuff. B)

Yeah, I can't wait to get into SQL stuff. I have MySQL on this computer, but I'll probably use PostgreSQL instead.

I would recommend starting with mysql though, and when you feel familiar then move on, because mysql is more standard and you'll probably find more resources on it, but after you can move on to something better such as postgresql.

from what I have heard, postgresql is much better, but what do I know?

I remember when tak wanted to learn HTML and was taking so long to to just give it a try. Meanwhile he was posting 100+ at A/f and he could have been reading my "html for dummies book". Eventually he did, and now his anal-ness has caught up with his html and css coding, which is why I wanted him to start. All of his pages will be Xhtml, css1/2, html compliant. Your my boy blue!

he's better then me, I can't even get close to W3C compliant, not with the complexity of this site anyway.

that is why I use Adobe Go live and I dont give a "f$ck". I mean, I enjoyed writing code, but when You have a band that wants a good site built, code writing just doesn't pay when you can have it up in hours instead of days and amazingly better.

I'd love tak to look at my code here:

http://ff.worldchaos.2ya.com and see if he could do all that. After a while, it just doesn't make sense to use code, on a commercial level anyways.

Really, all that matters is that your pages look good in IE, Gecko, and Opera. I am a big follower of the W3C recommendations though, and I follow standards as much as I can. That's just me though... I don't freak out if a page isn't valid.

That's true. I just do little personal things though. I get a lot of fun out of coding, and it's a nice pass-time. :)

What? Is that good or bad? :P

I've heard that too! That's why I wanted to go with it.

Wldkos, I do thank you for getting me started on this sort of thing. For all we know, I might have never started learning HTML if it weren't for that link you gave me. If I wouldn't have learned HTML, I surely wouldn't have started learning CSS, PHP, and XUL. :)
